Would you hire a lawyer and financial adviser
A financial advisor, definitely. I have several problems with hiring a lawyer. Number one, because you're now a millionaire they're gonna gouge you, and they're gonna try their snip dest make sure you stay married to them indefinitely. Number two, as much as I'd love to send someone else to collect so I could remain anonymous, I don't like the idea of giving a shark that much authority over my affairs. It's a sticky situation. How would you get to the Lotto office?
By using the trust I create a safety net between the millions of dollars and anyone who may think they have a right to some of that money! Anyone and everyone is going to try to get at that money (past loves, relatives you never knew you had, an old bill collector, etc.) And yes I live in Delaware and I can remain anonymous when claiming the jackpot and that's a good thing, but claiming the jackpot in a trust is just a better move all around.

Conspiracy Theories, the Lottery Edition
Paranoia runs rampant among rank and file lottery participants. Okay, here's the REAL scoop: The lottery is used to pay the expenses of California's Witness Protection Program , including moving costs, surgeries and identification changes. Those anonymous 'winners' are actually former witnesses in major underworld crime figure court trials. I knew it all along!! (smile...)

Would you let your close friend know
No. Everybody knows 20 people and despite people's best inttentions about not saying anything telling anyone you won could be the worst mistake you'll ever make. (This is assuming of course you stayed anonymous).

Ottawa man claims $25M Lotto Max prize
Although the initial euphoria experienced by lottery winners compels them to let everyone know they've won, it is advisable to keep a low profile, and not to broadcast your new status as a multi-millionaire. Any past lottery winner will tell you that people will come out of the woodwork with some sob story/legal challenge/investment scam or other angle to convince you to hand them your winnings. This is an unfortunate side effect of being instantly wealthy. My sister-in-law won $122,000 in the C

States with anonymity and their claim times
After a couple of weeks without the ticket being claimed, some of the state lottery mention it on their websites and in local papers. Ohio gives the store and location where the ticket was sold. I don't know if the ticket has to be claimed for the agent to get their bonus, but if it does the store owner might check their surveillance tapes. The last thing the winner needs, if they wanted to remain anonymous is having people looking for them because the ticket wasn't claimed.

If you win the lotto, would you keep a secret from your family member.
I don't have to worry about the parents, they have passed on years ago. I have my 20 something daughter in California and my 7 yr old son, so it's needless to say that they will both be taken care of for the rest of their lives. But I still have no need to tell them anything! All they need to know is that they have a trust! So from that prospective there is absolutely no one that I would need to tell about my PB or MM win at anytime what so ever! Thank god I'm in a state that allows me to be an

£84.4M Euro Millions lottery jackpot claimed anonymously
Sure would be nice to remain completely anonymous but I think it would cause suspicion about the integrity of the process when you have as many money-hungry crooks in government as we do here. If you don't have to announce who won, it could be anybody, couldn't it? It could be the Governor's brother-in-law for all we would know. I can see both sides of the argument for and against anonymity.

Be Proud...
Why not gamble and save at the same time? I wouldn't say someone who gambles a small portion of their disposable income while still saving is bad at managing money. IMHO, I don't think people are being all that negative with the anonymous issue.
