If you win the jackpot, do you go to tv and news?
I would love to remain anonymous, but the only legal person I trust is actually a family member...So, there-in lies my dilema. I know for a fact that I would NEVER NEVER NEVER tell my parents. I think all of a sudden, my husband would just have a really good promotion where we would have to move away.

SENSITIVE TOPIC: Do you keep a diary or record of winnings, losses, expenses for you know what?
Do you keep a diary or record of your gambling winnings, losses and other expenses for your tax returns? * I'm reading an excellent book by Ann-Margaret Johnston, CPA, titled How to Turn Your Poker Playing Into A Business: Knowing What to Deduct to Improve Your Odds With the IRS. ISBN 0-9774862-0-6 I'm not interested in Poker. My lottery activities are a hobby for now. I'm looking into the possibility of turning it into a home based business. If I can turn it into a ho

Bronx mystery winner claimed half of $333M lottery jackpot
Just because they're ignorant doesn't mean they aren't also an idiot. Even if NY allowed a winner to remain anonymous, that wouldn't prevent them from releasing other information, so anonymity isn't a reason for the spokeperson to say they can't release any other information. My guess would be that the winner is being allowed some time to get things in order before the rest of the information is released.

Identity Withheld Identity Revealed
Exactly... According to news reports the winner from NY came forward and was allowed to claim the prize anonymously. However, I was unable to locate a press release on the NYS lottery website confirming this. Are the news reports wrong? However, if I lived in the neighborhood where the ticket was bought I'd really want to remain anonymous too. It's not the safest neighborhood and I'd be concerned about the safety of my family and friends that live around there.

Top Ten Lottery Tragedies
it still amazes me how people don't make it a top priority to only play lottery in a state where you can remain anonymous. People generally play the available lotteries where they live and work, that pretty much decides the state where they play.

Suddenly I went from having nothing to having more money than I could ever imagine, and I was only 16. Everyone all over the world was reading stories about me and (I) hated being in the spotlight.' $260M Powerball lottery jackpot claimed by S.C. retiree
Congratulations to the winner! Since he wanted to keep some privacy I wonder why he didn't take advantage of South Carolina Lottery letting winners remain anonymous. OH well, right state, wrong city.LOL. GOD BLESS THEM, I LOVE READING THESE STORIES AND I'D REALLY LIKE TO SEE WHAT LIFE IS LIFE FOR HIM A YEAR FROM NOW.

NY Lottery and Anonymity
I'm bummed because I just checked out the VA lottery site: Can I remain anonymous when I claim my lottery winnings? http://www.valottery.com/faq/kb_detail.asp?type=keyword keyword=anonymous id=89 No. Winners often ask if they can claim Lottery prizes anonymously. Virginia state law stipulates that a person must claim a prize; winners cannot claim a Virginia Lottery prize with a limited liability company or a trust, for example. In addition, the claimant s name, hometown and prize are p

Not "mentally ready", lottery winner waits six months to claim jackpot
At least he can remain anonymous as all lottery winners can in Australia, if he won an America state lottery, he would be paraded in front of the media. I could handle a jackpot win, but I definitely would not be mentally ready for publicity. That is why, I believe it is not just wrong, but very dangerous for winners to require them to go public.
