African migrants win big in Spain Christmas lottery
I really like this story. I'm sure others will grumble but I love these types of lottery winners; to have someone going from the pit of despair, desperation and poverty to having something amazing change his life forever? Doesn't get much better than that. Very much like Quang Dao of the Nebraska 8. He too was rescued from a boat after fleeing Vietnam and he too won as part of a group. I wish Ngame (is it just me or is the spelling of his name kinda fortuitous, like Usain Bolt), good luck and ha

Jackpot-fixing investigation expands to more state lotteries
you can physically inspect the balls Well, sure you can, but what if the only person inspecting them is Eddie Tipton? That seems to be about what happened with the RNG games that were tampered with. Just because you can't see the drawing process doesn't mean you can't inspect the software and the machines. It may be difficult to determine what the legitimate software does under every circumstance and it might even be difficult to determine what changes have been made. What's not difficult i

S.C. Lottery assures public no computerized drawings used in state
Disastrous computerized drawing scandal sparks public distrust, even in states with real lotto ball drawings Other states may be tainted by an alleged lottery scam involving rigged winning numbers, but not South Carolina, says S.C. Education Lottery executive director Paula Harper Bethea. We don't have the random-number generator in South Carolina, and we don't sell the Hot Lotto game, Bethea said Tuesday in response to a query. Instead, she said, We do live draws, where a human being

Prosecutors say Tipton rigged two jackpots he purchased tickets for in Kansas
It would be interesting. If this thing really snowballs, and states are saying they were in the dark about Tipton, then they have to admit that RNG draws are not secure. The story about Tipton was in the local papers this past week. If the story continues to grow, maybe people will get wise to RNG draws and stop playing. Then states would have no choice but to go to ball drop draws. Time will tell.

Trial underway in world's biggest lottery fraud case
Failure to get a guilty verdict doesn't mean there wasn't an inside job. It just means they couldn't prove to the jury that it was an inside job perpetrated by Tipton. Considering that the lottery appears to be making the embarrassing admission that their official position is that it's entirely possible that an employee was able to tamper with the drawing computer, such tampering seems like a very plausible explanation. Of course even if it's an absolute certainty that the drawing was rigged

Extradition trial begins this week in $16.5M Hot Lotto fraud case
Maybe I wrongly assumed it, but I thought the ticket was a QP when the NY Attorney tried to validate it on behalf of a trust. One would think because this is a criminal proceeding, the story should have all the important details. What I don't understand is this being called a $16.5M Hot Lotto fraud case For starters (according to this story), they can't even prove without reasonable doubt that Tipton bought the ticket or what if any was Rhodes involvement. Does it really make any sense f

Powerball lottery winnings to educate kids, fund parents' honeymoon
The Millionaire is a show unfairly forgotten, today; as popular in it's time as Queen for a Day , Private Secretary , and Our Miss Brooks , it offered a premise that would serve as an inspiration for series as varied as Magnum P.I, , Fantasy Island , Stairway to Heaven , and the current 'Reality TV' craze; top-notch casts in half-hour morality tales; and 'common sense' resolutions that would keep it an audience favorite for five seasons.Produced for CBS by Don Fedderson Productions (who

Iowa Lottery officials track down $1 million winner
Includes audio report After six months of sleuthing, Iowa Lottery officials made contact with a man who'd won a $1 million Powerball prize back in November but didn't know it because he hadn't checked the ticket. You've heard us say before that we want to see our prizes claimed when someone legitimately has won them, Lottery CEO Terry Rich said Monday. We hope that our work in this situation demonstrates that. Richard Watson of Belton, Mo., claimed his $1 million prize Monday at lot

Michigan Weekly Breakdown — Fantasy 5 & Lotto 47 Trend Report (April 4-9)
Why would they want a jackpot to roll without a winner? Just for fun? They're salaried employees so there's no financial incentive. If they're going to cheat, they'll do it Eddie Tipton style and buy tickets with numbers the rigged RNG will pick. Trying to game the thing not to pick someone else's numbers is more complicated.
