In South Africa, a Durban woman has asked Lotto operator Gidani to investigate its scanning machines after her winning ticket was declared invalid. Wanda Bromehead, said she had checked the newspaper and knew she had won R88 in the May 16 draw. But she was surprised when the teller behind the counter ran her ticket through the scanner and the screen displayed the words No Winner . The teller was asked to scan the ticket three more times, and the message was the same. Doubting herself

California man asks clerk to choose a lottery game for him, ends up picking out a ticket worth $10M
Great story but we all want to know how much he tipped the clerk for this. This is why I would never ask for a quick pick. The timing of a clerks fingers on a machine is what you are basing your selection of numbers on. It is different with a scratch ticket though. They are up there on the wall and it does not matter how long it would take him to select one for you. Having the clerk select the right ticket deserves a far larger tip since he is making a decision for you rather than hesitating wit

Arrested for buy too many Lottery tickets?
I stopped at a liquor store one night. I purchased a soda and a scratch off. While I was standing in line, I heard the lottery machine printing. I went back to my car and scratched off my ticket. If I'm not mistaken, I won $10 on the ticket. Decided to purchase two more tickets. I went back inside and heard the machine was still running. I noticed the amount at the bottom was $500+ I thought it was a nightly audit or something. Nope. Someone had called the store and played their numbers. That wa

Lottery machine ejecting partial tickets.
I live in Ohio I've had three different machines at different locations spit out just a bar code and header prior to printing full ticket this past week. The clerk throughs that piece away. I asked the teller if it's a duplicate she says no I don't think so but not real sure. I'm just wondering if this has happened to others. If somebody won a jackpot would there be another winning ticket in the system but gone in the trash taking away half our jackpot.

Vending Machine vs. Counter Scratchers
I've never used a lottery vending machine. Too many bad experiences with vending machines in general so avoid them when I can. There is a lotto vending machine in the grocery store I frequent and I've often wondered if you buy a ticket from it and it wins under $600, will the machine cash it out for you? I've never witnessed a cashier there cashing out a lotto ticket. Do you have to take it to another lottery retailer?
