MM jackpot $47M/$36.1M and PB jackpot $50M/$33.3
What they are counting on is a super huge (record or near record) jackpot. They're certainly hoping for that, but my guess is that they're simply counting on things evening out in the long run, and probability is on their side. The 7 jackpots since the price increase have averaged $142.7 million, so the ones that came up short are being offset by the big ones that had high sales. I don't know how this compares to what they hoped for, but they're doing better than they were at $1 per tick

Do some number combinations have better odds?
If that was possible then the couple that traveled to Massachusetts to play their game rundowns wouldn't have had to take over a couple of store terminals to buy $300K of quick picks. The state ended the game because the general public thought allowing players with $300K to stand at a terminal for two days buying lottery tickets made it too easy for them to win. Imagine a state like Ohio (my state) with a 6/49 game who's jackpots has reached $50M/$25M cash in the past allowing anyone with $14

MM jackpot $47M/$36.1M and PB jackpot $50M/$33.3
Perhaps advertising has something to do with it. I can't tell you the last time I saw an ad for Lotto; however, you can count on ads for PB and MM when their jackpots start getting into exciting territory. Also, I've seen a resurgence in the little bit of luck Take 5 campaign. And around here (Albany), we have highway billboards with the PB and MM jackpots, but I don't believe we have one for Lotto. Anyway, the point is, without a lot of advertising to plant the idea of playing Lotto in the p

Historical data with jackpots for Powerball?
After spending a few weeks on MegaMillions I'm going to try my system on the Powerball game this week. Anyone know where I can download or buy data from the past drawings? I have a file of the draws but I need the the data to include the jackpot winners not just past draw results. Thanks for any help!

Why Play Pwerball or Mega-Millions ?? Play you're States games !!
My state biggest game is Classic Lotto and the overall odds of winning a prize are 1:54 and the odds of winning 3of6 for $2 are 1:57. MegaMillions overall odds of winning a prize are 1:39.8 and the odds of winning 0+1 for $2 are 1:75. You are more likely to win something playing MM than you are playing CL for the same price and if you do get lucky and win the jackpot, you are going to win a lot more. Sure the odds of winning the state game jackpots are better but the number of people who h

Why Play Pwerball or Mega-Millions ?? Play you're States games !!
I think more people play the multi-state games because of the allure of the higher jackpots. And the lower payouts aren't necessarily better with the lower games. For example, both NY Lotto (6/59) and Sweet Million (6/40) don't have any payouts until you match 3 numbers, and their prize levels compared to PB/MM aren't as high. NY Lotto used to have some rather healthy jackpots, but the game started declining when NY joined Mega Millions and got even worse when they added Powerball. The jackpo

Retired Illinois couple share $656M lottery jackpot
Congrats to them!!! Sounds like they have their stuff in order. I feel badly they couldn't choose to be anonymous. Yet, I wish they could have said something along those lines at the press conference. I hope they don't become the poster-children for why all states should allow anonymity! I always worry about what has to happen for all states to wake up to the dangers of not allowing people to claim large jackpots anonymously. It should be an option - especially for large jackpots!

Kansas Mega Millions winner claims jackpot anonymously
being cautious with a 100 million dollars? if you invested it all you could probably get 8 or 9 million in interest each year. do you think they could get by on that. as far as charity goes if they stay in their town how are they going to feel if their fire station can't operate a full strength because of budget cuts. or school programs have to be eliminated because of funds. wouldn't they feel good about helping and gaining the respect of the townspeople instead of hidiing in their house to pro

What Do You Think About The Current Mega Millions And Powerball Lottery Jackpots?
$32 represents a relatively small wager THRIFTY. Suppose you could have spent just $1 on a QP? That's exactly what I was thinking, I would have felt better spending $1 on it. I thought about buying 1QP, because I have not seen anybody winning $10k, $250k or the jackpot where I live. Lottery players think that ny is a gold mine when it comes to winning jackpots, but I do not see the winnings spread out. Long island ny wins most of the jackpots.

What Do You Think About The Current Mega Millions And Powerball Lottery Jackpots?
The POWERBALL rolled over from $80M to $94M (+$14M) last night. The following was stated in the PB website questions and answers page. The minimum jumps will now be by at least $10 million each draw (up from $5 million in the old game).
