First, don't go against the ideas on which the club was formed. These people are entrusting you with their money to do what the group decided as a whole. So the real question is, WHAT WAS THE IDEA THAT CAUSED THESE PEOPLE TO DONATE TO THAT POOL? Is there a pool agreement that includes games to be played, splitting the wins, cut-off time for pay ins, etc? Determine what happens to the lower tier prizes. Are they split? I have been diligently working (countless hours) on NY's Quick Draw Keno game (drawn every four minutes) I have devised a number of ways to narrow down to a pool of 20 numbers (out of 80) which every few draws or so provides an opportunity to get at least a 5 of 5. As one who runs lotto pools, four of them right now, I personally like them. I like them because with just $5 - $10 dollars I am in every drawing for a year on each my two big pools (20 and 21 members). I agree it will only take one ticket to win, that's why we only play $1 per drawing. Granted if we win the minimum jackpot, it will only be about $394,000 per person after taxes but that's more than I have right now; of course we're hoping to win a LARGE jackpot. When you're only playing 20 lines, it's better to have 3 winning numbers in a pool of 21 than it is to have all 5 winning numbers in a pool of 45. Lottery Pools are a bad idea this stuff happens quite a bit I would never participate in one!!! Yeah, I'll bet they're really sorry they ever formed that pool. Regardless of how this case turns out, it is just another black mark against office pools. They formed an office pool and they won about $145 million.
