News Conference
Remember that woman who recently collected her money who wore a disguise? I mean, really, it was still pretty obvious who it was. As for those of you saying you'd tip your hairdresser big to do your hair...um, she still knows who you are and may not hold it close to the vest . I liked this question because, face it, we all would LOVE to do a news conference. Show the world who we are, tell certain peopel to stick it , etc. Just like how everyone has pretended at one time or another, to be on

Anonymity to avoid lawsuits - frivolous and otherwise
If I won, I would remain anonymous the best of my ability. I would drive a normal car, buy a normal house, normal clothing and normal life. I don't want to look rich because the lottery jackpot is money I didn't earn. If I were a millionaire and I earned my money by doing business and hard work, then I would look wealthy and rich so I could tell others that I worked hard for my money.

Seriously, do you REALLY wanna go public?!
Call a cop? The point I was making is that under the rules of most American lotterys you CANNOT remain anonymous. Its against their rules.

California school teachers hit $76M lottery jackpot
Precisely why i would remain anonymous. I too like seeing a group win. I disagree with an earlier comment which would eliminate people based on their salaries such as an architect or engineer. The lottery is a game of chance. I can even say that knowing (from another story on lottery post weeks ago) that child molester won. I only wish that his victims could file civil suits to help them with the years of counseling they'll need in their lives.

News Conference
That is what I like about the UK National Lottery and the New South Wales Lotteries, winners are allowed to remain anonymous. It is very rare for a news conference here in Sydney. The lottery release information, such as the area the ticket was bought, if the winner was registered and a little about them; such a grandmother , a retired garbage collector . But they never release the name and it's not regarded as public information. Most people respect their right to privacy and feel if it

News Conference
Let's face it. Most states require that your name be made public if you win the powerball/mega millions jackpot. Some states allow winners to remain anonymous, but most states want the winner's name to be made public so that the general public can be assured that the prize is being sent to a real person. Would you want the 15 minutes of fame or would you quietly claim the prize? Before you make your selection, remember what happened to David Edwards after 2001 and what happened to Jack Whittaker

24 year-old Calif. man claims lottery riches
myturn, you live in Australia and the NSW Lotteries obviously care about annonymity -- unless the winners do not want to remain anonymous. Unlike the US Lottery official empty heads, all they want is publicity and if the winners are hounded, so be it! A winner in New Mexico is not required to do a news conference. However, your name, prize amount, and ticket purchase are public knowledge. Of course, your address and telephone number are not public information. When I win, I am opting for no n

18.4 MILLION Michigan Classic Lotto 47 Jackpot!!
I don't know exactly on the cash option, but it will be worse than the Mega percentage. Mega is a 26 year annuity and Classic Lotto is a 30 year deal, they say roughly half but I bet it's probably nearly exactly half. But on the upside you can be anonymous and win it. Hope you get it if I don't.

Indiana Powerball lottery winners likely to remain anonymous
It is going to be a lot harder for people to suddenly decide that they were part of the pool too, since they are anonymous. :) I need to get that lawyer's name just incase.
