Store owner's lottery bonus put on hold
I was right there with ya justex, with the way in which the terminology of commission was used. Still dont understand it, even after several post. Reckon the best I can come up with is to compare it to a standard adult who may at some point default on a loan , the bank says catch up or we'll penalize you, The state is just retaining this mans funds due til he can settle what is past due. His flaw is shutting down and basically cancelling his account with the state. Now they can say since hes

Ownership of $1M winning lottery ticket in question
Thanks CA LotteryGuy, I found it now. I always forget about the paper. That article says Maverik has eaten the financial loss in the past on tickets that were printed wrongly, so it's possible their official policy wasn't enforced. Darn it, I sure hope Maverik doesn't prevail on this one.

Appeal of reality show for BIG winner?
I wouldn't watch a Dr Phil type show nor read a money magazine article. Seen those before. Not familiar with Jim Cramer. However, I probably would watch a reality show. I'd LOVE to see a winner with a dysfunctional family, maybe one who's not very close to their family, deal with them after a huge win. I'd volunteer, but y'all would be bored cuz when I win there's going to be no drama and we all know the American public won't watch a show when things are going well.

Appeal of reality show for BIG winner?
What would the appeal be for the public to watch or read about a new winner turning his ticket in and then be followed for the next few months or even years? Showing family, shopping, travel, lawyers, financial planing, drama, etc. I not asking for a debate on the issues for remaining anonymous. It would take a special individual with a plan of some sort to want to do this. Would you watch Jim Cramer of Mad Money fame do a show with the winner? Would you read MONEY magazine if they had a monthly

After alleged lottery ticket theft, store banned from ticket sales
This whole story sounds odd. I would agree with you, except if she was trying to hide the fact that she won by selling the ticket, why would she then call and report it, especially after she got all of her money? If she got $600 as the article reports, and then she went back for $300 more and then another $100, it doesn't make any sense. If the store clerk paid her the entire $1,000 then he would have to pay taxes when he cashed in the ticket, so he would lose money!
