New York: 10/1 - 10/31/2008
I watched today's midday drawing for the numbers in NY. If you are familiar with the presentation, the machines revolve then stop in front of the announcer, who then announces the digits when they pop up. In the first ball machine the digit 6 popped up and the announcer took about four seconds to say s-i-x. My guess is that she wasn't sure if it was a six or a nine, and needed to be sure before the announcement was made. Consequently whoever was responsible for releasing the chamber for the seco

Lottery pre-test question?
It's my understanding in Maryland that the ball sets they will use for a drawing are picked by a computer. Leaving out the human element as to some employee favoring a specific set of balls in their locked ball cabinets. All the balls in the cabinets are calibrated to within specific weights and measurements. Before each drawing they do pretests to validate the balls and machines before the draw for auditing purposes and to insure that each machine is functioning properly. The whole process can

probability of euromillions rollover
Euro Millions rolled to 125M. For the last drawing, the amount of jackpot determined was 108M ( 74M/$130M over $20M increase from the previous), and total European ticket sales were 164M, which was much HIGHER than those for the last year s drawing with similar jackpot size and the estimated by EM as well. Apparently, Euro Millions estimates total ticket sales for this 1/20 drawing to be similar to, or in fact slightly less than, last drawing's approximate 160M.However, considering the sig

Couple learns downside of lottery pools -- the hard way
We have a pool at office of 8 of us who are close friends and we started playing lottery as a group around one year back. We take turns to buy tickets. I on my own also buy ticket for myself. We decided that the person who buys ticket will copy it or scan it and send/give to others either personally or through email. Sometimes we used to get copies before drawing and some time after, which bothered some of us. So we decided some rules for group.1)Ticket copies must be distributed before the draw

Sign the petition - eliminate computerized drawings!
You sound very inexperienced in the concept of reality.Saying that computers are undeniably more random than a real lottery ball drawing destroys any credibility you might have had. Even a Lottery Director in charge of a slew of computerized lottery games would not make such a preposterous claim.I supposed after 10 years that hard rubber lottery balls do get scuffed a little, but that's why they replace them. And any scuffing would appear on all the lottery balls, so the randomly quality of

Group buys every Pick 3 lottery combination and wins
Pick a number, every number. That's how Ken Seidel and a few St. Louis-area buddies seized the opportunity to make a Missouri Lottery game a nearly sure thing. The numbers the lottery drew in Thursday's midday Pick 3 game were 4-5-2 in the regular drawing and 1-4-4 in a bonus drawing that Seidel says guaranteed him a 20 percent return on the $23,000 of chances he and his friends bought, at $1 a pop. That's an easy $4,600 profit. The daily Pick 3 drawing allows players to choose three numbers from 0-

Are Lotteries Rigged
i think that RNGs are fixed. you ever wonder why a triple has never hit in PA. this also brings me back to my argument as to why the power play wheel, as well as the wheels used in the Massachusetts numbers game are not always random. the placement will affect the outcome of the drawing. also, lotteries select the placement of the ball placement in the drawing machine, and that will also affect the outcome of the drawings. there is no such thing as a completely random drawing. there will a
