Confidential tax...
California is a state that allows jackpot winners to remain anonymous. I am glad I live in this progressive state. I see the state's point of view that they want to prove prize money has been paid out. But the privacy of lottery winners should be paramount. It is no one's business how much money someone has. Making someone's name public who has a lot of money has the potential to cause problems for that person.

Man dons disguise to claim lottery jackpot
I have the same problem, I'd HAVE to claim my lotto winning in trust in order to remain anonymous My last name is extremely uncommon. A disguise wouldnt help me. I'd claim it in trust and wear a disguise for the employees who work at the Lotto headquarters. Wig, dark sunglasses, a fat suit, the works.

$31 million lottery claimed by anonymous winner
I think being able to remain anonymous is a relatively new option in CA. I'm glad to see it - if you are dreaming of winning big it detracts from the dream if you know the hounding you will take if you do win.

Lp Members Will Automatically Share w/each other!
Hey AAAOK, Did you set up your pool for a certain period of time? I mean is it a constant thing? Usually pools are change every week. right? The same people in one week are not always the same people the next. Maybe you could just desolve it? And start another anonymous private 4 or 5 exclusive member group?

buying lottery tickets
I've seen clerks try to insert slips 5 or 6 times and then watch another clerk clear the machine and the tickets are printed the first time. If the problem is that the right button needed to be pushed it doesn't matter who inserts the slip. OTOH, when the clerk does the same thing each time the slip is inserted, either the button(s) they're pushing only works the last time, or there is some other transient problem with the machine. if the machine is ready to accept a pick-3 bet because

Anonymity a Sheild for Not Being Hounded
The more I learn about the Aussie lotto from our LP members in Oz the better it sounds all the time- posters here have said it's tax free for the winner- instead $1 AUS the tickets are $1.03 AUS and thus the tax has already been paid, and remaining anonymous is the norm. Sounds good to me, that's the kind of lotto that should be used as a model.

Went public too soon?
would have told the lottery officials that they are not to use my likeness (display any photo of me, or make any video and post it on the news, or internet, etc...) and they are not to release any of my information... Sure, and the folks at the GA lottery would just tell you Okay, whatever you want. We'll forget the official rules. Here's your money. its there ticket, there win, and there decision. No, it's not their decision. Whether you want to remain anonymous or not has nothing

Winners Circle
Just a question for you seasoned people. Is there some kind of Winners Circle here where folks posts that they actually won something? Someone sent me a message about it a while back, but I have yet to find that page. I know that people usually prefer to remain anonymous even here or even stopped posting after a winfall. But I was just curious because I can't find anythning. Thanks.

-Anonymity-
In Florida if you win Lotto or MegaMoney you only have 60 days from the date of the drawing to choose a lump sum or you will be collecting annual payments for 30 (Lotto) or 20 (Mega) years. So I wouldn't wait. Also, if you only won a small jackpot, even in a bank account, the interest on every million would be over $40,000 in a year, nothing to sneeze at. So why lose money, put your life on hold, etc., just to remain anonymous? People go on game shows all the time and win money and the whole wor
