Grouping numbers in a 6/49 lotto game
I have always tracked by decades, ie; 1-9;10-19;20-29, etc. In the Lotto Texas game there are 54 numbers in the game. So there are 5 numbers in the 50's decade. However, the 50's have played 141 times in the 6th position as opposed to the 40's playing 135 in the 6th position. This is over 327 drawings, so there is not that much difference in the big picture. I still think this is useful info, but overall, I only use this info to try to cut the odds some, because it still takes luck more than any

Saturday Treat
It means exactly what it says: 733 jackpots since that date. It's almost the same as the number of drawings, but not quite -- because the next drawing has not yet occured, yet that 733 includes the next jackpot. So it is quite literally the number of jackpots. My advice is that for all statistics on the site (not just that page), try to take what it says literally and not read anything into it that is does not say. There are so many stats on the site that I understand it can become confusing,

The Mega Millions is Fixed
If you look at the back of any Mega Million card you will find for getting two numbers you do not win anything. Have you calculated the number of addition winners there would be if matching two numbers paid any thing. The number of 2+0 winners would be more than twice the 0+1, 1+1 and 2+1 winners together. The odds are matching 2+0 are 1:18 which would reduce the overall odds of winning something to 1:12.7 which would eliminate the possibility or multi million dollars jackpots. Games with o

So if the jackpot prize is small...
If you only have a small jackpot.....you may be smart in avoiding the press conference. Small jackpots are rarely front-page news or top stories. Keep in mind though your name is public domain. So if a curious person wants to find you....eventually they could. There are some who like to get the press conference over with though...especially for large jackpots. With a small presser..... that way reporters/media won't bug you later for interviews. Be smart and schedule it on a slow Friday after

Cash option and taxes
So as I thought, by taking the cash option, you will only get a little over a third of the advertised jackpot. You still have to pay taxes even after only getting half your share. The anuity option looks good for bigger shares, but for smaller jackpots (at least compared to mega millions) So from what I can tell, winning the jackpot would mean lots of jumping through legal hoops, dodging the IRS, and would probably lead to some financial stress. Don't get me wrong, it would be WELL worth it e

Nevada woman hits $33 million jackpot at casino
I think one of the reasons there aren't more big jackpots in Vegas is because they have to keep supplying the little jackpots to keep people there, sticking their money into the machines. I actually won over $100 at a slot machine in Atlantic City on a first date with my hubby. We used the money to pay for a nice dinner, played another $20 each, then drove home. Figured the rest paid for the gas. So essentially, we broke even. I'm hoping we'll hit an even bigger jackpot this year playing P

Do you have the urge?...
This gave me a giggle, as I live in Oklahoma City, and have sometimes felt the urge to play Texas Two Step or Lotto Texas when their jackpots got quite large (not long ago they were 2.15 million and 25 million, if I remember right). Once I drove a ridiculous distance to and from Oklahoma City to Denison to buy tickets when both games had those big jackpots, and I've been known to slip over the border to buy tickets in one game or the other when I was in Oklahoma close to Texas. So I've gone the

POLL: Worldwide Jackpots
Advertising annuity amounts of the top prize is not only done with lottery jackpots but also in contests like those held by Publisher Clearing House and Reader Digest. Admittedly it's can be confusing but it's not false. For example the present PowerBall jackpot is advertised as being larger than the MegaMillions jackpot but the cash value of the MegaMillions jackpot is actually larger but every website that advertises those jackpots also show their cash value. Knowint that, it's up to the j

Early talks for a joint Powerball-British lottery game
I was really pondering the bubble aspect of it from the inevitable drop in ticket sales when people realize how few and far between the jackpots are in their area. Most people I know would not play any game after awhile if no jackpots are paid out anywhere near their area. Heck the Mega Millions has been on for comming on 13 years and the closest win to here has been about 400 miles away. Even the second prizes are few and far between. There have been two awarded around here so that is 6 1

Combine MegaMillions & Powerball? take the poll
I would like to see the Multistate lottery and MegaMillions combine to create a near national lottery. This new National lottery would reach 42 states and Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands with a combined population of: 288,000,000 ( I went on U.S. Census site and combined the participating states). Could you imagine the amounts of the jackpots. I figure with Powerballs minimum $20,000,000 and MegaMillions's $12,000,000 the starting jackpot would be around $35,000,000. There could b
