Contacting Professionals After You Hit A Multi-Million Dollar Prize!
Thank you CA LotteryGuy and justxploring
You have been a great help.
Thanks to TODD for this great website
It is very informative.
So if a winner of a large Lottery prize wants to remain anonymous
One should only play in a state that allows you to remain anonymous (KS, MD, ND, DE, SC, LA, NH, OH, OK, PA)
If that is feasible where one lives.
Because forming a blind trust will not gain you anything in some states.
I guess I will be drivi

Really think you can remain anonymous?
Yeah, theorhetically you can, but....
This was on our local news tonight (KFVS TV 12, Cape Girardeau, MO)
A man won 3.7 million in December, Missouri Lotto. He went into a store in Ironton, MO to scan his ticket (had the clerk scan it for him), verified it was a winner, said thank you, and left.
The local TV station heard about it and had a reporter camp out in the store just in case he came back.
A lady in town (this was on the news mind you) had a hunch it was someone who hangs ou

Have you ever talked to a lottery official?
On the FL site there have been polls from time to time. I just get a response saying thank you for participating. A couple of them have been similar to polls on LP. (Maybe they get ideas from us!) It's an anonymous poll, so I don't know how they'd contact me and I rarely offer my personal information to people unless required. Regarding correspondence, years ago I wrote to the lottery online (askLotto) but that was when the FL website was new. I'd get a response almost immediately. FL has g

Is it really possible to keep your win secret?
If you have to sign for it, it's not a secret. Think about when someone famous or elected gets a speeding ticket. It's in all the papers. There is always the anonymous leak , and it isn't necessarily the person you're dealing directly with.
I read somewhere that your tax forms will say professional gambler for occupation.

Okla. lawmaker aims to stop lottery winners from staying anonymous
'(hopefully you know and you've been kind to when they were poor!')
YOU are the reason folks want to remain anonymous !

Iowa couple claims $200M Powerball lottery jackpot
If they had been anonymous there would be no story and nothing to talk about (BOOOORRRRRIIINNNNGGG!) people that play regularly/often/dedicated are less common than those who ask for 5 quick-picks passing through a Kwik-E-Mart. I play enough with systems and whatnot and I won a jackpot once (relatively small) and that day I only played 2 lines picking them with a relatively crude program. Maybe some are trying too hard?
How many more people played 5 quick picks on a whim that day and won not

Okla. lawmaker aims to stop lottery winners from staying anonymous
The Delaware Lottery, while allowing anonymous winners, will keep after tax winnings if you have a state judgement against you for back taxes or child support.
If that law passes I say boycott Oklahoma's lottery. That will be easy for me because I don't live anywhere near it. Proposals like this make me want to .

10 Worst Lotteries To Play
Where did he say that?
Not that it matters, because people will still play anyway, because the winners in Delaware can remain anonymous.

Good State Lottery websites
A few months ago I did a posting on which states tax vs. don't tax. Maryland taxes give me a headache, but I haven't had to pay any on anything. They, like NY and NJ, are considered a tax h***.
Delaware taxes lottery winnings the same as California, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. No tax for their own respective lotteries, but they will tax all others. That is why I will only play Powerball in Delaware (that plus the anonymous winners factor).

Did the Oklahoma Lottery break its promise?
I see nothing wrong with forming a trust to remain anonymous, especially considering the amount of the prize in this instance.
Regarding the Muskogee Phoenix editorial quoted here, bear in mind that the Phoenix was against the Lottery in an editorial back in November 2004 when the issue was up for vote. On the other hand The Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoma City) and Tulsa World both endorsed the Lottery at the time, and the voters of Oklahoma apparently agreed.
