Defense Bill Dispute May Stall Internet Gambling Proposal
A dispute among Republican leaders may delay the fate of a proposed Internet gambling ban until after the Nov. 7 elections, congressional and lobbying sources said Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., are pushing hard to include an online wagering ban and a slew of other bills in defense legislation.
But in a letter to Frist on Monday, Sen. John Warner, R-Va., the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he firmly op

Divide and Conquer: Meet the Lottery Titans
Enveloped in neon lights, murmuring crowds and the tinny melody of computerized games, a convention center showroom here bears the trappings of a Las Vegas casino. But the players, mostly state employees sporting suits and name tags, haven't come to this annual expo to gamble. Instead, they are sampling the wares of one of government's biggest cash cows: lotteries, which rang up about $202 billion in sales last year in the United States and overseas.
Amid sales pitches and glad-handing, there

Numerous State Lottery holdouts
I know Kentucky Lottery does manipulate their numbers based on the numbers played. They pay out the least amount possible based on the numbers drawn The computer that generates the numbers is an algorithm and it is AI, so it learns patterns. Many people who have played the same numbers for years have noticed their numbers no longer hit, even though the numbers did hit before. It is certainly fraud, but in the new age of AI, the legislation has not caught up to the technology. They will eventuall

Numbers submitting Cutoff Time
I agree, they hold on to LOTS OF PEOPLES money because when you add it all up, all those peoples money is a ton of bucks that the banks are making interest on. I call BS on them for doing it, but The Fed's are letting 'em get away with it because there are no laws prohibiting banks from doing it.
I guess I could write my Congressman and tell him I want legislation passed to stop banks from doing this shady practice of theirs, but my pockets aren't as deep as the banking industry's lobby so I

Lottery Keno Games
Our legislation in KY is debating adding sports betting to the Online games. I'd settle for Internet poker.
I play Keno to win something more often so the only time I play anything more than a 5-spot is when I play two 3-spots or a 3-spot and a 4-spot. There are plenty of large jackpot games and no reason to make an fun game complicated.

Alabama lottery hopefuls to be disappointed yet again
lawmakers could not reach an agreement on wording specifics, casino locations, and where funding would go.
They made it too complicated with little or no room for compromise. Most state lotteries were created before casino gambling so that wasn't part of the lottery legislation. Alabama is very late joining in and unless they simply legislate a state lottery and take the rest off the table, they might never have one.

Legislation allows Montana lottery winners to remain anonymous
Yay! Now Montana and Wyoming are both anon, and Oregon is working on legislation last I knew. Hopefully Idaho is next.
I'm seriously considering making the trip to Wyoming as soon as I need to renew my regular numbers. If enough of us cross the state line to buy tickets, maybe the impact on Idaho's wallet will get their butts in gear.

Idaho Lottery says it's working with Legislature on 'alternative path forward' for Powerball
The Idaho Lottery took to Facebook Wednesday after lawmakers killed legislation that would have allowed Powerball to be played in the state.
Today, the Idaho House State Affairs Committee held a bill in committee that would have allowed Idahoans to continue to play the Powerball game, Idaho Lottery wrote. Work continues with the Legislature to determine an alternative path forward to ensure no disruption in service to Idaho's single most popular lottery game, for the benefit of Idaho's publi

Alabama residents cross state lines in droves to play lottery as jackpots soar
Possibility of state lottery remains in limbo as residents pressure lawmakers
By Kate Northrop
The jackpots for multi-state games Mega Millions and Powerball are at record highs this week, and Alabama residents are doing all they can to join in on the fun while they wait endlessly for an approval of a state-run lottery of their own.
Alabama is one of five U.S. states that does not yet have its own state lottery. Locals are flustered with the hassle of having to drive to one of four bord
