Maybe Germans and others are playing in Spain. You would be a fool to play by Internet through Lotter or alike, instead of getting the tickets to real prices. This is my idea for a national lottery like El Gordo in Spain ... something similiar in this country ... maybe tickets costing $2 ... $2.50 or $5 ... however all prizes won would be tax free from federal tax. Tickets would be on sale all year and could be bought at any Post Office ... 50% of every ticket sold would go to the federal government for taxes and expenses and 50% would be prize money in the pot for a whole year. Every December the US would have this one big tax free drawing ...

It seems that America and those visiting US from abroad love the excitement of the multiple huge jackpots generated by Powerball...so it is not too far fetched to think that 2 jackpot games racking up huge jackpots won't take that frenzy even higher. It depends on how we define risk and how we perceive buying a $1 lottery ticket. I look at it as probably wasting a dollar because I know I have a very tiny chance of winning the jackpot. A risk to me is if I had a dollar coin, was going to buy a lottery ticket with it, but dropped it into a pool of hungry man-eating sharks. That is where we differ because I consider risk as putting my money into something where the outcome is not certain regardless of amount. To me it is calculated risk to buy a one dollar Mega Millions ticket. I weigh the risk, which is, the ticket I bought matches none of the numbers drawn meaning I lose the dollar I spent to my perceived benefit, the idea I may win a large sum of money and then decide if that it is an acceptable risk for me to take.
