California second-prize winner wins $1M 'mini-jackpot'
Once again, the Garden State got lucky, as a single ticket sold in Ocean County grabbed last night's $216 million Mega Millions annuity windfall.

Lottery winners question Calif. Mega Millions prizes
Marjorie Givens thought she hit the jackpot last month when she realized her Mega Millions ticket was worth $250,000. She matched five numbers but missed the Mega Ball.
Her second-prize payout was half that of a California resident who played the same five numbers - 27, 36, 43, 49 and 54 - and also missed the Mega Ball on the same night in the same drawing. That person took home $503,851 before taxes.
I thought it was one lottery, equal for everybody, said Givens, of Stark County.

By Todd Northrop
Players of the Mega Millions multi-state lottery have an even better reason to rush out and buy some tickets before tonight's drawing.
The grand prize for tonight's Mega Millions drawing has been raised to $200 million from the previous estimate of $196 million, established after nobody won Friday's top prize.
The lump-sum cash value of tonight's jackpot has also been raised to $127.3 Million.

What's with NY Sweet Million??
I just did more research on the odds of winning Mega Millions and NY Lotto. The odds are about 4 million to 1 to win either second prize in Mega Millions ($250,000), second prize in NY Lotto ($181,000, prize amount given out in latest drawing), and the first prize in Sweet Million.
Based on this information, I think NY Lotto and Mega Millions are a better value than Sweet Million (as Thrust posted), because I have a 4 million to 1 chance to win second prize on Lotto and MM while still having
