I don't have a problem with how LOP works; what I don't like is that Ohio does not use a floating percentage for the cash-to-annuity ratio. Lump-sum winners get stiffed. Ohio was considering a lifetime prize game. Ohio gives scratch winners a choice of cash or annuity, so I can see Ohio offering a cash option in a lifetime game. Regardless, I don't see LOP lasting much longer, as the jackpot was hit in a drawing that would otherwise have paid out the lowest for a Saturday drawing.

Yeah, but Mega Millions would probably increase its jackpot by a minimum of $5 million if it backloaded its annuity like Powerball does.
