Follow-Up: Couple’s lottery 5-week winning streak was simple luck
Quoting the article, Jeffrey Hintz told auditors he spent thousands of dollars on lottery tickets every week and countless hours stamping envelopes with the lottery s address so he could enter losing tickets in the weekly drawings. And once again, Another retailer said Hintz typically buys $30 to $100 in tickets a day. A grocery store employee said Hintz would buy $70 a day over his lunch break, and he sometimes spends $400 at a time on tickets. I'm not too worried about possibility of frau

Arriving at the lottery headquarters
Down here in the land of hurricane Dennis when we have a winner of the state lottery from this county even if you've had an interview in Tallahassee, the local paper shows up at the front door to the house and also interrogates the neighbors anyway for bits information about the winner. This is funny in a way because the area is growing by such a large amount every year that the article usually consists of the neighbors saying that they don't really know the winner but if they are both outside

systems
Too bad i just read your article. About 2 weeks ago I bought the pick 5 system on Win-Track... But my tables were not on it, since i live in Holland. So i e-mailed him (because in the information letter he says that he will send other tables free of charge) to request for tables 5/45, 5/50 and 5/49. So far, I have not received any confirmation nor any other tables. Are there other reasons for you why it is a scam? He has a money-back-guarantee. Is that a scam too?I could cry...Mouche

Dipping your toe into the 'other' side
Good summation flamemoth. When I was born during WWII there were a LOT of babies born with those 'birthmarks'.... they called them 'V for Victory' marks. There are pictures around of me when I 3-4 years old with that thing still showing up enough so's to be noticed. But it was such a common phenomenon in 1943, coincident with the War, it was attributed to the fact mothers were focusing a lot on hubbies away serving somewhere, on the war effort, on keeping the Yellow Peril and the Hun from toss

Did the Fortune cookie strike again?
That just shows what happens when a lot of low numbers hit. Many people that pick their own numbers play kid's ages, birthday numbers, etc. Knowledgeable players generally play more balanced combinations that would help them to be perhaps the only winner of the jackpot. It is pretty amazing that no one got the jackpot with 72 winners having all 5 white balls. The combination of 1-2-3-4-5-6 is one of the favorites among neophite lottery players. I read once....I believe it was an article in L

Powerball Taxes
I think the statement is a little misleading. By my understanding, the 15% tax rate applies to capital gains seen on investments held over 366 days. Any interest income (for example interest earned on a bond) is taxed as regular income at whatever tax bracket you fall into - unless of course you can keep your investments within those that are exempt from federal, state, and local tax, as well as the AMT (alternative minimum tax). Many municipal bonds fall into this category, depending on what

N.H. Lottery To Sell $20 Scratch Tickets
I recently moved to NH from MA and think the NH scratch tickets are lousy! I only buy scratch tickets from MA because they are much better than NH's (style-wise, prize-wise, etc.). I also find it funny that the article said that the $20 NH ticket will have large prizes, but does not say what they consider to be a large prize! On the $10 MA Poker ticket, you can win $10 million. I don't think any scratch ticket should be over $10. NH should be ashamed for being so greedy!

Winner of $56 Million CA Lottery Jackpot Too Busy To Claim Prize
I would always take lump sum. If you took the payments for the $10 million, you would get about $120,000 a year BEFORE taxes. Remember, you get ONE check per year. If you quit your job and blow your first check in the first 3 months...you are broke for the next 9 months! Did you see the article here on LP about Massachusetts allowing people that had taken annual payments to instead get a lump sum? They had to pay something for it, but I think it was 270 people that came forward requesting i

how many winners if 1 2 3 4 5 6 happens
Many years ago when the Florida Lotto was real big, I believe I saw an article in the paper (might have been Lottery Players Magazine actually) after someone won that stated there were about 50,000 tickets sold with 1-2-3-4-5-6, and that the payout for those numbers hitting would have been a one time payment to each of around a $1,000.I don't think 5-10-15-20-25-30, etc are good to play either as many players like those kind of sequences also as well as odd and even number sets like 1-3-5-7-9-11

new york leaving mega millions
Quote: Originally posted by JAG331 on April 30, 2005Lottomike, it had me concerned too....this is what I've dug up.The thread was started on April 12th by CO, no evidence provided, just a warning that NY Lotto would rule the roost if NY left MM. Ryanm posted the link to megaplier.org, which had a three sentence blurb about NY Gambling Changes. The report was from WTEN, ABC's Albany affiliate, and dealt with VLTs (Video Lottery Terminals) and casinos. A seemingly out of place tack-on sentence
