Cincinnati Reds formed Mega Millions lottery pool
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on April 22, 2005I find it strange that multi-millionairs would buy tickets. I make below the mean in WA state and would quit my job the instant I won. Those people are millionairs and if you like baseball seems like the job of a life time. I really wonder how many of them would quit if they won. I don't think any of them would quit if they won. However, I probably would still play even if I already won a jackpot once or had such a job of a lifetime that I wo

NY lottery pool members sue over Mega Millions jackpot
I know that lottery pools are popular in alot of work places, but in a hospital setting, it's usually deemed illegal to do, although it's done anyway. It's because of this kind of problem as presented in this article that administrations frown on such activity, and that winners tend to leave the hospital setting as fast as they can. I visited a hospital in New York two years ago that actually sold lottery in it's gift shop. This floored me. So I guess, it is not a problem for their employees t

N.C. Religious Leaders Stage Anti-Lottery Rally
Maybe i missed it while reading the article, but i didn't see any mention by the Church leaders that Bingo is wrong. They never said that Bingo should not be used by churches as a method of fund raising. I know of several churches that host Bingo as a means of raising money. They also support Raffles and even erect tents and sometimes serve Beer during their various religious festivals. Am i missing something or could some Churches be competing for that same dollar that might go for an occasiona

Harnessing the Power of Appreciation
Quote: Originally posted by Rip Snorter on March 27, 2005Makes sense. It's not the way I do my gratitude rituals, but my purpose is to affirm my own gratitude, remember it as much of the day as I can remember to do it, as opposed to manifesting desires. I tend to use creative visualization for the second part.JackWhat I described basically creates a parallel universe in which what you've visualized has already manifested, and with the emotion of joy and appreciation it's much easier to make that

Powerball changing, will you still play?
I don't think Powerball will ever get rid of the Match 5 Bonus pool. I've e-mailed them about the possible matrix change and also asked why they had the Match 5 Bonus pool, and this is what they said:The articles I read said decreasing the chances of winning. Meaning, making theodds higher. At any rate the article was a little simplistic. We need to look designing agame that the players want to play. That is what we will try to design. There are good reasons for a rule that will slow the gro

Does her DOS programs still have a (.BAS) extension on them? About 25 years ago, some one gave me a 5 disk with one of her programs written in Basic and saved using the protect feature. I read an article in BYTE magazine and figured out how to list the program. When I saw how simple it was written with n

Powerball Matrix Change?
Nice article.... informative.Maybe the ticket for more sales is to increase the jackpot to 300 million, constant, but decrease the chances of anybody winning it to zero. They lost 400 million in sales this year, the guy said. Whereas, they're bound to have lost a little something in payouts, too. They could win both ways by increasing the jackpots, but making sure nobody wins one. In fact, they could afford to make the jackpots even larger.... maybe half a billion or so that way.Jack

...Why "Lottery Systems" Don't Work
Now that's a hard act to follow. The article site was up and running tonight so I risked my positive attitude and read it. As usual it was nothing more then sad-sack nonsense about getting struck by lightning we've seen before. While in a sense I agree there is no system, software or strategy formula that can guarantee a jackpot. It is equally bogus to claim there is nothing you can do to improve your chances what-so-ever. Just playing 9 numbers instead of 6 in a 6/49 game drops the odds of h
