Ridiculously low non-jackpot prize payouts have me fed up
When are people going to realize that people don't play for the smaller prizes. Large jackpots equal more sales. It's a fact. Yes smaller prizes are more likely to be won but if you like smaller prizes then play $5 straight on one number in pick 4. Odds would be better and the prize a not bad $25k. The only reason not to do that is you are playing for the larger jackpot. The problem with Mega has been a small jackpots compared to it's odds. This problem is far worse than whatever it's been

Ridiculously low non-jackpot prize payouts have me fed up
What is the higher priority, advertising big annuity values or increasing non-jackpot prizes to generate more ticket sales? If you asked the Lottery officals this question my thought is they would say advertising big annuity jackpot values. Look at how sales exponentially increase when the jackpot hits over $150 million. The casual lottery player, and there are many more of them then there are regular players, chase the big jackpots. They don't focus on the lesser amounts, particularly

Anyone hate a certain lottery game?
Hate might be too strong a word for a game. I no longer play pick 3 and have given up on Megamillions. I'm sure Mega will make a record for the most jackpots won for any year by a multistate game and I'm also sure that the Mega group will do nothing to fix it. It seems that people in the government are all too eager to prevent internet gambling and offering a good game for their player at the same time. I don't know what could fix mega other than a price increase but considering how low the

Stream of Jackpot Winners
To me, the difference between $15M and $204M is I would buy more tickets when jackpots reach the levels of giant piggy bank. I often handpick numbers when jackpots are under $20M, but I buy quick pick now. I just let the numbers choose me because I am tired of coming up with some good numbers and dreaming that I would hit the jackpot. A combine of handpick and quick pick would be fun for me now. CA SuperLotto Plus is growing. I hope the pig will mature at $100M before someone bring it ho

describe how you got started with playing the lottery
When I came to the U.S, I was only 16. At that time, my father played Super Lotto. He told me that if he win he would have millions dollars. Back then, I only use quarters (my favorite), , and nickles, and I never had feeling for money that above the hundredth. I read stories in the news about people hitting big jackpots and started playing when I was 18. I won several dollars; $17 was my biggest winning. From that time on, I play when jackpots reach $20 millions. --------

For all we know there are some people who have won big jackpots. I really hope there have been. We need to hear those success stories. Actually there is someone who used to post on here a couple of years ago that said he won a big jackpot worth millions, but wouldn't go into detail about how much he won. I believe is was telling the truth.

Mega Millions hit again!
Ouch for Mega Millions. It rolled only to $14 million annuity ($7.8 million cash; only a $1.1 million jump cashwise), which is its smallest roll yet since it went to 5/56 + 1/46. I guess this means Mega hasn't upped its minimum rollover amount when it changed the matrix. Mega's minimum rollover should be at least $3 million. Powerball's current minimum roll is $5 million (approximately $2.2 million cash judging by its current cash to annuity ratio), and its annuity roll from a reset jackpot

Does anyone know a website that reports cash values?
Hi, Prob88! Are you talking about current or previous jackpots? Maybe Todd or someone else here can answer this, but are most state lotteries pari-mutuel like Florida? If so the cash value is based on the amount of tickets sold so they don't tell you the cash value until after the drawing. The cash value for MegaMoney and Lotto never appear on the Florida website until someone claims the jackpot and there is a press release. Then you can figure out the payout which is usually 55-60%. mega millions vs. powerball
Megamillions gives a higher cash value, and rises faster in real terms, but the odds against winning are much longer. I live in a border area and can play each game. I play according to the expectation value, which is a value of the prize divided by the odds against winning it, adjusted for the likely numbers of winners and potential prizes. Like all gamblers, I accept to play at an expectation value of much less than one, but even I have lower limits. (In very large jackpots, the expect
