Powerball everyday...
The attraction of Powerball and Mega Millions are the larger jackpots. Increasing the frequency of the number of draws would mean lower jackpots paid out more refequently, if people still played. No days berween draws tends to diminsh the hype-factor too. As far as a Pick 7 goes, I doubt many people here on lottery post would even play that. Odds on the 5 + 1 games mentioned are astronomical enough already.

Bonus ball bounced by Lotto Texas
Come Sunday, Lotto Texas players won't have the bonus ball to kick around anymore. When Saturday night's drawing for Lotto's $32 million jackpot is over, the Texas Lottery Commission will reintroduce the version of the game it abandoned in October 2003. The move came after players sent a clear signal that they do not like having to match the number on that extra ball for a chance to win the grand prize. How clear was the signal? Lotto ticket sales plummeted by 30 percent after the bon

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
Todd, I grant and I freely concede that I'm not an expert in these things. If the entire industry thinks that a grand total of 3 more jackpots being hit in one year (and 2 more jackpots than the year before that) spelled the end for Powerball and justified the changes then all I can do is quote Lyndon Johnson who said: I may not know much but I know the difference between chicken salad and chicken sh*t. Why not a lottery that goes "wide"?
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on April 15, 2006For those players who think winning $100M or more is ridiculous, there are the local lotteries with better odds and smaller jackpots.  States use multi-state games with big jackpots to attract more players to all their games because it works.  PowerBall has a cap that goes into effect when its jackpot reaches a record amount and then more money is put in the prize pool for the 2nd place winners.  I think it only happened once. Actually, th

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
Sincere Congratulations ...to the employees who won Pools are nice and we've witnessed several pools pay off, but overall, I'd rather buy my tickets alone. Eleven contributing a total of $55 plus two adding another $5; the other recent pool win played $40 at the record jackpot level. So at that unique moment when the jackpot reaches a specific level, such as a record level, any one of us can adequately 'compete' individually with the typical pool. As mentioned previously, and lookin

Multiple jackpot wins question?
I was just thinking what would I do if I won mulitple jackpots. I have tickets for Powerball for Sat and I'll be getting tickets for MegaMillions for Tues. I was thinking how would someone handle this situation? A problem I'm sure alot of us would like to have!! Not likely but fun to ponder. I would most likely claim the Powerball jackpot first because I know a real good tax attorney in my area who knows how to handle money and invest it well. He's also pretty well connected in town and kno

match 5 powerball won twice same person?
I look at it as no different than betting for the dealer in Vegas. When the jackpots are way up there I just look at some of thjose jackpots as obscene , no individual needs that much. I did this on a PB in Indiana about six years ago, had 4 of 6....I won $110, the guy in the store won $110 (I'll bet he remembers that)....no won hit that night, the jackpot was $111,000,000. That was as close as I've came yet. Had the other two numbers come in I'm pretty sure we could have both retired o

DON'T DO THIS!!
I am a player with a philosophy, goal, and budget, I keep in mind that only 1 playslip will win. Therefore, I will not make too many futile investments, no matter how large the jackpots are. WHne the jackpots are large, I generally spend more because I do not wnat to make several trips, so the extra money is advanced play. I have not taken the time to figure out my strategy for the pick games and these are the winners, overall. Shame on me. I am going to do that (study the pick games). Y

If a nationwide game comes along....
I oppose this idea strongly. I believe it would create fewer large jackpots, not more. In any case, the odds would become so long, that the probability of winning would be more effectively reduced. Also, the game would necessarily involve lots of periods during which there are no big jackpots. I prefer having two options, MM and PB, that are out of phase with respect to jackpot size. I note that the idea would be particularly bad for stores in border areas, such as the border area w

Possibility of the "Impossible"
There is a father son team from OH (I think?) that has won 3 major jackpots. I don't remember the any of the JP sizes....but the were big. So, option 4 may have already come to pass. That's if you count the father/son team as one person. I have heard of several people winning 2 major jackpots before. May you all be next, Bryan :)
