Makes sense. But still it is surprising that a record was set in an economy like this one. Maybe folks are buying tickets out of desperation. Maybe all these 25 and 50 dollar scratch offs along with powerball going up to 2 bucks a pop has something to do with it.

It definitely will go over $400 million if it is not won tomorrow night. It could even breach $500 million. If it's not won tomorrow night OR Saturday, we'll definitely see a new record cash jackpot.

That's funny, because just five months ago, when Powerball was getting won repeatedly at $70 million and Mega Millions set a record, everyone was putting Powerball down like crazy. However, now that Powerball is in rare jackpot territory and Mega Millions keeps getting won before getting to $100 million, everyone's jeering at Mega Millions, saying it rolls too slow.

I really don't care about the jackpot magnitude, but I would like it to keep rolling over until the 2012 Olympics are over. 6 more rollovers should have it on the cusps of record levels. That won't cause me to spend more than I would if it were just at $40 million, but it will cause me to delight in watching the hypocritical, sanctimonious Bible and Quran thumpers standing in line to buy a ticket and praying to God they have winning ticket!

9053 is the first number I ever hit straight on Cash 4 and its got a good track record so I stay on it all the time. Occasionally I would throw in the 8053 since its 1-off exact order and there's a car at work with that tag number. Wish I had thought about it yesterday but she would have bumped it down to 7053 anyway....

Actually, the income is affected by the fact that the prize allocation is not being covered by 32% of sales. The effect of the guaranteed starting jackpot carries too far into the rollover series. They did not sell enough tickets to cover $39.9 million cash using only the 32%. The actual cash value covered was around $25.6 million. They need to come up with the $14.3 million out of sales.
