Powerball Lottery States Vote to Change Game

I hope the powerball officials are not doing this just because the numbers were hit early a few times, because that can happen again at 146m-to-1, and if it does, are they going to raise them again? I don't think the public needs to h

Powerball Lottery States Vote to Change Game
The current odds of 120m-to-1 are depressing as it stands and odds of 146m-to-1 are rediculous at best. Even the Mega Millions is better at 130m-to-1 which has been described as infinitesimal by statisticians. We just got the lottery last year and I was buying 2-20 tickets depending on the pot, but now I will never buy more than a couple at a time and only when the jackpots are 100+ million or I may just play my wife's single number and be done with it. Other than that I plan to pay more atte

Opinion: CA legislators should keep public in the loop about lottery
EditorialOakland TribuneSo, what do we do about the California Lottery? For the past four or so years, the lottery has been static, bringing in about $2 billion a year. The state Lottery Commission believes that joining Mega Millions, which generated a record jackpot of $363 million in 2002, will provide an economic boost for the state by luring more people into playing the lottery, generating more revenue, 34 percent of which goes to state schools. But state Sen. Using Astral Projection as a tool
Lucky Fox Terrier:I wasn't visiting this board when such things were happening, but I've seen a good many references to it. Evidently, the result was the creation of the Mystical Forum. Seems a positive result came from something that appeared negative at the time. It's difficult, a project such as this site. People coming here from all manner of starting points, each with his own set of premises, goals, each with a trail of baggage dragging behind left over from where he came from. It's inev

Too many players winning Powerball, lottery says
>One expert says changing the game might be unnecessary. ''The expectation that they'll wind up with 17 winners this year because they've got 12 so far assumes that the process is linear and it's not. It's random,'' said Bruce McCullough, an associate professor at Drexel University. ''This could be the year they'll have 20 winners -- and there's nothing they should do about it. It's entirely possible they would be changing to fix a problem that doesn't exist.''I agree with this. Powerball's S

Streak of jackpot winners is bad luck for Powerball lottery sales

Texas Lottery Approves Mega Millions Changes
I agree. I would like to see no changes until 1 year after CA joins. Before they increase the odds again, they should address why the anticipated and advertised $300-500 million jackpots didn't happen even before TX CA joined. Personally, I'm glad the $300-500 million jackpot never happened, since I don't think anyone really needs more than $30 million and having more winners makes it more fun. No winner week after week is not only dreary, it reminds you how bad the odds are. But the lottery

Tennessee Lottery to finally reveal Lotto 5 jackpots
The Tennessee Lottery announced that it will remove some of the mystery from its Lotto 5 computerized game by giving players an estimated jackpot before each of the tri-weekly drawings.Prior to estimating the jackpot, players only knew the rollover amount from the previous drawing if there was no winner. At the games launch, it was announced that the top prize would range from the tens of thousands to more than one-hundred thousand dollars. After just over four months of playing Lotto 5, players
