College students audition to become a Lottery announcer
Nine students from several Rhode Island colleges gathered at Twin River Casino Wednesday night to audition for jobs reading the Daily Numbers and Wild Money numbers for the Rhode Island Lottery.
Although the Lottery numbers are broadcast on Channel 12, they're read inside a small glass-enclosed studio at Twin River, just off a busy casino floor.
It's one thing to practice in front of a mirror and it's another to be in front of a real camera, said Jahnna Burke, a 21-year-old URI student wh

Assemblywoman wants N.J. lottery drawings back on TV
New Jersey Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer) announced today she will introduce a bill requiring NJTV to broadcast the New Jersey lottery drawings.
Since July 1, the New Jersey Lottery has been streaming its daily lottery drawings only on its Web site and on its Facebook page.
Watson Coleman wants the drawing to be available on the state's public television network. NJTV is the private nonprofit that replaced New Jersey Network earlier this month.
Not everyone owns or has

The New Jersey Lottery will be the first state lottery to stream its lottery drawings live over the Internet on Facebook.
The first live streamed drawing will be on July 1, 2011.

Games People Play
Just wondering what lottery games everyone plays. Generally I will play any game which is not computerized and the drawing is broadcast live. For the national games, I play Powerball only in Delaware because I live there and Mega Millions in either NJ or MD depending on where I wind up (I will occasionally play MM in NY if I am visiting family for longer periods of time).
Here's my state-by-state listing:
DE - Only Powerball (all others computerized)
PA - All but Middays (computerized)

reThinking Lottery Systems??
Funny thing about most, if not all of the various Lottery systems and spreadsheets (mine included) have in common. They all make one single and yet very crucial mistake. What is funny is, we all realize it, but do not take steps to address it. I will be the first to admit, I couldn't pick the right numbers if they slapped me in the face. But I have seen and worked with enough various systems to see what I think are interesting results. The mistake is very simple, almost elementary. Although I th

Are Lotteries Rigged
Of course they would lose more if they got caught. But show me one criminal, just one, who thought to himself while committing his crime, Gee, I'm sure I'll be caught doing this; wonder how long I'll be in jail? I Guess I'll have to wait and see. No one thinks they'll be caught committing a crime. That's why they do it; they believe they're more clever than the general population and, if the general population thinks the way you do, then I would have to say they are probably correct.Your argum

Bettors will have more ways to gamble in Michigan next month, and they'll be able to do it in bars and restaurants across the state.State officials hope the new games, which include Club Keno and pull-tab games, will draw more money into state coffers as the struggle to balance the budget continues. The Michigan Lottery saw ticket sales increase 4.5 percent to $1.68 billion in the budget year that ended in September 2002, according to its most recent annual report.Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who prop

Is this true?
A computer glitch caused a delay in the live TV broadcast of a Powerball drawing on July 2, 2008. This occurred around the same time that Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro Trust claimed an $85 million Powerball win from a ticket purchased in Oklahoma, sparking suspicions of fraud, according to Grok on X. While the timing and secrecy fueled speculation, no direct evidence of rigging or fraud has been found to date.
The Powerball drawing was eventually held, revealing a single winning ticket sold in Al

Lotto America to switch to computerized drawings
When I was in high school and lived in northern Virginia, the D.C. Lottery would broadcast their live drawings at 7:58 P.M. If I was at home, I watched the drawing. If I was not, then I'd check the numbers the next morning in the newspaper. I did not realize at the time I could check the results online. I suspect D.C. changed to computerized drawings in the summer of 2004 because they started using animations to show their numbers. I did not like the new format and stopped watching the drawings.
