Magic number # 6 Why?
WIN D,
There is a mathematical way to express what you are seeing across these different events. This also relates to two different topics I posted a while back a topic called the Potential Reoccurrence Probability and the Potential Occurrence Probability. Both of these are related, but to show how they are and how this relates to your problem, we'll need to do a little Calculus. The Potential Reoccurrence Probability is the following equation:
y = e -(x / m)
x is the difference between

tips to the cashier?
I'm not sure about tipping on an ordinary daily hit--but if I ever won the JP on the MM or a higher tiered scratch off, the clerk where I purchase 99% of my lottery tkts would be in for a nice surprise. My situation is made easier by the fact that I purchase most of my tkts at the smoke shop in my neighborhood where I also go to obtain the treat cigars I purchase for my Significant Other. Only 4 people work there and I know most of them by name and all by sight, so my situation is a bit diff

Calif. state workers bet the same lottery numbers 10 years -- and win
MissNYC...as long as the game is the same. The game is currently 5 of 47 and 1 of 27. Not sure what it was 10 years ago.
Basically every drawing is an independent event. Others on this site may talk about streaks, hot/cold numbers, etc., but it comes down to each draw is a separate event and the odds of hitting a set of numbers are the exact same draw to draw.

A Cry for Help!!
For anything where you have two possible outcomes for each event, the possible outcomes for multiple events will be 2 raised to (the number of events). In your case it would be 2 to the 5th, or 2*2* 2*2*2, which is 32.
The general formula is (possible outcomes for each event) ^ (number of events). If each filter had 4 possibilities and you had 3 filters there would be a total of 4^3rd combinations or 4*4*4, which is 64.
