Players vent frustrations as New York Lottery claim centers struggle to keep up
In the above post, I wrote The State of New Jersey is broke ...
To show you how bad the financial situation that The State of New Jersey has found itself in, consider this;
The computers that actually perform the buying and selling of stocks (aka transactions ) that are listed on The New York Stock Exchange are not located in New York City. They're located in a datacenter in Mahwah, New Jersey. Each business day, computer programs running on those computers perform billions of transaction

Man who won millions from lottery during divorce case must share
It is only fair IMHO. Just like the military where a Colorado Senator I believe had legislation passed that if you are married for greater than 10 years in the military and divorce, he or she automatically forfeits 50% of their retirement.
Now LP members, especially you legal types, had Michigan been an anonymous state, do you think he could have pulled a fast one and got away with the whole kit and caboodle?

Former tribal lobbyist named as new California Lottery director
Other states that pay pari-mutuel lottery prizes have their own reasons. California's reason was keeping the tribes happy.
Their lobbyists are good at preventing the state from making more money off gambling. Recent case in point: While other state are making moves to cash in on sports betting following the Supreme Court decision, California's sports betting legislation has been tabled because of -- you guessed it -- the tribes. Is it a shrewd move on Newsom's end to hire a former tribal lobb

Virginia lottery jackpot winners can stay anonymous, starting in July
Almost unheard of: Politicians actually caring enough about their constituents to pass common sense legislation that can protect big time winners.
Congratulations Virginia!

Long Island co-workers claim $437 million Mega Millions jackpot
They certainly would miss Yolanda Vega!
Their Attorney Eric Jaffe followed the advice of Cuomo who vetoed legislation allowing anonymity for lottery winners by stating basically get a LLC. This is exactly what they did, good for them.

WV Lottery not backing online gaming law this session
Myers said the Lottery wants to get through the rollout of sports betting apps at the state's five casinos before pursuing legislation to broaden iGaming further.
And that's why the WVA Lottery is near the top of the nation's best lotteries.

The man who won the lottery 14 times (part 1)
FYI, after they won the Virginia Lotto games, almost every state with a lottery passed legislation limiting the amount of time and the number of play slips an individuals could purchase. The syndicate paid retailers allow them to tie up their lottery terminals which meant no other players could purchase any type of ticket. With 5 lines on each play slip, they had to run almost 1.5 million slips.
This and this are probably the same syndicate.

Georgia Senate passes bill that would give lottery winners anonymity
A proposal that would allow Georgia lottery winners to remain anonymous took an important step forward Monday.
The state Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill that allows any Georgian who wins more than $250,000 in a lottery to keep their name from being disclosed. The bill's proponents have said eight states have laws that allow winners partial or complete anonymity. The legislation now goes to the state House of Representatives.
The lawmakers who drafted Senate Bill 331 said the legislatio

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
There is a slight challenge now that we are close to year-end. It is possible that if a financially savvy person hit a $1M or greater jackpot in any of the games, that they may hold out claiming the prize (which means it still shows up as available on the lotto website) to see what the final Federal tax legislation looks like. Depending on the new tax law, there could be a substantial tax savings by claiming the top prize on January 2, 2018 vs. December 2017. If I won the $10M prize, I'd certain

$510 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot soars into top 10
California passed legislation to create this payment situation on horse race betting. Then the lottery came along and the same systems are used.
I do not know the total number of winners that are affected by these laws.
