Powerball: $205 Million!
I find this hard to believe Ol Jack has construction companies and bought lots of land. He was a millionaire before he hit powerball I doubt seriously if he is broke. He might have given away and spent most of his winnings. But he's a fry cry from being broke. One of his main businesses is putting in and repairing septic systems which in itself was keeping his pockets full. Since winning he has started several construction business to build developments on the properties he bought. So I would li

Virginia hoping the joke's not on them
Quote: News Article Virginia hoping the joke's not on them ___________________________________________________________The timing, though, has left her a bit unsettled, she said. These people could be playing an April Fools' joke, Kyle said. I hope not. ___________________________________________________________If it was me that won the $239 Million Jackpot, I would do the same thing, announcing it on April 1st. But, I would still want to remain anonymous as much as possible and not hold a pre

Todd, Search Question
Hey Mike,It's not your PC, it's the server. Although I am running Lottery Post on a dedicated server, it's not enough at this point. I am currently preparing a massive technology upgrade that will add tons of power to the database engine. That will fix problems like that timeout.I just finished building four new servers that will form the basis of the new setup. The database server itself is way-out cool, with a 9-disk RAID array, and one hot-spare. (15,000 RPM Ultra SCSI drives!) The serv

lottery machine and computer
Goose:My point is that a lottery drawing which utilizes a computerized electronic random number generator is subject to fraud and manipulation to a much greater degree than one using ping-pong balls. Seeing the drawing take place has very little to do with the actual outcome, but Indiana has covered that objection as well, since their broadcast is animated to look like it's being done with ping-pong balls. I have yet to find an Indiana player who knows (or knew before I told them) that Indiana u

PB Drawing for Wednesday 2-4-04
Chief, that's very possible...the range between 11 and 17. actually, today i almost bought a set with the PB# of 13 since i always used to play that number and haven't seen it drawn for the longest time. i might even go ahead and add a set with pb13 before wed. and certainly would consider using that number as we approach 100M. i remember reading a news story here at LP news a few months ago (it's still in the archives) about a guy from washington state who won the state lotto there using 'gold b

Final Penn. Super 6 Lotto Drawing Tomorrow
GEt your souvenier Super 6 tickets. Nice article in Today's Philly Daily News that confirms the truth. Powrball blew this game out. Actually, Super 6 wasn't that popular to begin with. The new Match 6 should be better and offer the Jackpots that Super 6 was only able to scrape up post powerball. I don't think anyone will miss Super 6. $2Powerplay was better, I agree, better chance at smaller prizes.A jackpot Roll Down game would be nice. Delaware had one a few years ago. (Part of MUSL).

Did you ever wonder?
it's also fascinating to read that the lady (in the above article) said that she uses a combination of birth dates when picking her numbers in other words she varies her six number sets but chooses from a relatively small defined (pool) of numbers ...those are virtually the identical words of the woman who won the California lottery earlier this year. remember the woman who carried her lotto ticket around in her purse for the longest time without realizing it was a winner. i believe she used t

I found it, and it pretty much cleared up my questions.But....I'm still not clear if someone would have to pay SS tax (or self employment tax) on lottery winnings.I have had certain years where my SS tax (I was self employed) was higher than my income tax. Thanks, joeno, you just pay the flat tax... even if you are a professional gambler. The government will take 35% of the jackpot r

lottery jackpots
Quote: Originally posted by weshar75 on December 31, 2003 I had read an article in the newspaper that said 70% of the tickets sold were quick pick and 30% were people's own chosen numbers. Now if you take that into account along with the fact that they will repeat numbers and the odds of you actually winning the jackpot. You can see why it can take awhile for the jackpot to be hit and the large jackpot amounts. I don't believe that those figures are correct! Majority could be 51% to 60+?no dou
