Massachusetts
I'm from Mass and would like a cash option on these games, though I am not sure I'd take it (See Hitting the Jackpot of Questions Washington Post article). The new treasurer, Tim Cahill, is a big disappointment on doing anything to kick some life into these 2 sluggish games. Are things so entrenched and unchangable in Massachusetts that they can never be changed? What is going on there? What could be the real reasons they don't have a cash option? If anyone works for the state or MA lottery

$500 million jackpot...when?
Cool. I haven't gotten that far. I do read the articles giving advice. We get a little lotto magazine each month in the stores. It always has a little article on what to do if you win. And there is a book I want to purchase. It is called, Sudden Money, by Susan Bradley. She is a certified financial planner. I figure every bit of knowledge you pick up helps. You have to figure on inflation, too.

I work at a lottery retailer, and thus often hear about people's miracle lottery stories. (More often their so-close defeats). The gentlemen who won all the money here is actually in a position of authority, the City manager. Quick little article is here: http://alachuapost.com/All/1792.html News of that sort spreads around very fast in a relatively small community such as this one. As for people making a living off lottery numbers, I know they are out there, and I have even talked to a few of

Michigan-6/25
Sandy,I once wrote to the michigan lottery about such an article last year when they said the same things in the paper and offered some insight ( imagine the nerve of me a PLAYER offering advice). And the spin they came back to me with, was just unbelieveable. They ASSURED me their sales were up (nothing mention about profit), and that everything was just rosie....yeah right! So you can lead a horse to water .....but you can't make them drink (know what I mean). That is one of the reasons I rare

taxes on powerball, etc...
Just for a rough estimate of your take-home from an advertised lump-sum value in the millions....Filing Single... (Lump Sum Jackpot * 0.614) + $212,330.00Filing Married... (Lump Sum Jackpot * 0.614) + $217,769.50The powerball drawing for 6/11/03 is estimated to have a lump sum value of $36,900,000.00....Keeping it simple would leave one happy couple with $22,874,369.50 or one lucky person with $22,868,930.00Also, the Powerball (and most other lotteries) are only required to hold back 27%, no

5/7 New Tex Lot 60-100 million Jacks
Another article about possibly joing a multi-state lotto. I would hope so!!!! But if TLC decides TX will join, then they better change the pick6 again. I'm thinking I just might hold onto my old pick6 data now in case they decide to join a multi-state, and change back to the old 6/54. Better safe than sorry huh? Time will tell. I really bet they change in 2-3 years again anyway. Mark my words folks: 2005-2006 another pick6 game change.

5/7 New Tex Lot 60-100 million Jacks
Here in Texas some of us are still beating the drum against the new game. The Texas Lottery Commission bought the new equipment before they even asked for public comment. That means the public's opinion didn't matter. There is a small boomlet over the situation beginning with an article in the Austin newspaper. Will it make a difference? I doubt it. Texas is cash strapped like most other states. At least we don't have a state income tax and the Lotto is still voluntary. We are not requir

Do lottery systems really work?
It's not random... It just appears that way beacause there are so many possibilities!I read an article discussing coin flips, and a professor had his studnets perform 100 flips, and jot down the results. He would automatically fail ANY student that had 6 or more repeats of a result. Why is that? Because the odds of 6 identical flips in a row is too high, and actually never occurs. Number analysis takes into accoount what does, and what does not happen. Let's say most numbers in a lottery us

Remain anonymous with a trust
A rather old article, but it says use a trust to remain anonymous. CLEVELAND -- Two Super Lotto jackpots, worth $12 million and $8 million, have been claimed, the Ohio Lottery said.Joann Garrett, 62, of Poland on Monday presented the winning ticket from Saturday's $12 million drawing, said Ohio Lottery Director William Howell. She chose the cash option, which means she will receive a lump sum of more than $3.9 million after state and federal tax withholdings. Ms. Garrett bought the ticket at the

Where would you go if.....
Quote: Originally posted by Dowser on January 18, 2003Hi VD...actually Powerball insists on publishing your name and town. This is so people see that someone actually gets the money. They recommend a press conference, stating that they catch up to you anyway, so you should get it over with. The weather in Iraq is going to be very dusty and 4500 Degrees F soon, so I am not going there. I am going the Malaysia again in March though, maybe. The exchange rate there makes you feel rich. The best hotel
