Lawmakers steamed about lottery promotion
The Maine Lottery is getting strong, bipartisan criticism for its Funds For Fuel promotion as lawmakers say the lottery should not be using Mainers' fear of high fuel prices this winter to sell more lottery tickets.
I think it is misleading, Sen. Debra Plowman, R-Hampden, a member of the Legislature's Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee that has oversight of the lottery, said this week. It almost sounds like some of the money will go to fuel assistance. It doesn't. It is just another way to

How to Prove Your Lottery IS Fixed?
I am more inclined to suspect the instant lotteries of being manipulated as opposed to the lottery drawings. Still, even with the regular lottery drawings, you know there is a statistical mathemetician somewhere who is going to figure out some formulaic strategy to get the machine to perform in a certain way.
But back to those instant scratch off lottery tickets. I think those are much more susceptible to human interference. Since at least one person at the top of the distribution chain know

Next person in Line
Hi justxploring,
I used to think I'd be upset. But you know, I probably won't now-because I truly think, if (when) its YOUR time, it will be, nomatter what. The only time I may think otherwise is if I play the same numbers ALL the time, (which I do) and the one day i don't, those numbers hit the jackpot. I'm not sure how i'd react but I try look at it the same way I do the slots. You have to be there at the exact second (or a portion thereof) that this other person played. Let's say you di

Poll: Would you play this?
Go back up and look at the Even and Odd patterns for 2^3 and you will see that there are 8 of them.
I understand there are 8 even/odd patterns and 8 high/low too. But each pattern has 125 different straight combinations but that is not betting 8 numbers for a buck.
Now if you substitute U for one number up and D for one number down you will see that you would be playing eight sets of numbers for a dollar and any or all numbers could be one up or one down from the numbers drawn and still

buying lottery tickets
I've seen clerks try to insert slips 5 or 6 times and then watch another clerk clear the machine and the tickets are printed the first time.
If the problem is that the right button needed to be pushed it doesn't matter who inserts the slip. OTOH, when the clerk does the same thing each time the slip is inserted, either the button(s) they're pushing only works the last time, or there is some other transient problem with the machine.
if the machine is ready to accept a pick-3 bet because

Employee lottery pool wins on first ticket
Talk about instant gratification the first time the 23 people on the night shift at the Sherwin-Williams plant in Andover, Kansas, decided to pool money and buy Powerball tickets, the first ticket they bought proved to be a winner.
A $200,000 winner, which means it matched the first five numbers drawn Jan. 5 but not the Powerball.
It was a shocker, said Paula Norton of El Dorado, who goes by Joan and was the designated ticket-buyer for the group. We're all a bunch of happy people. Eve

Some lottery winners missing their jackpots
True story:
Elderly man reads the newspaper every morning in the bathroom.
He dies. Widow picks up the old papers, finds a Powerball ticket.
Her kids insist: Mom, check it out. She does just in time!
Widow claims a $100,000 prize the day before the ticket expires.
That story from Karen Emery, deputy director of the Arizona Lottery is a rare happy ending in the history of long-lost lottery tickets.
More than a half-billion dollars in lottery prizes went uncollected last y

Congrat's pcnut on your hit. Very nice
On Dec. 3 Illinois lottery is going to have the green ball drawing
again. I think most people know what that is. And for the ones
that dont know. After the pick 3 drawing there is another machine with
1 green ball and a few white balls. If a green ball is drawn. There
will be another pick 3 drawing. You can win only if you purchased
the winning ticket at the store. It dont count if you played it on line.
I think the green ball d

pick 3 lottery card
Coin Toss, I don't keep my pencil in the plastic sleeve. I complete the form in black ink at home before I leave. Don't want to be a counter hogger.
A laminated playslip or a laminated ticket? Something that is laminated is only good if it's used for a long time. Anyway, the playslip would never fit into the terminal! There are plastic sleeves given to all the retailers for distribution to players so they can keep their slips protected from getting wet or bent. It's also good advertisi
