I think educating people is always worth the effort. There are a lot of fundamental misconceptions about probabilities. Some you see in posts by people who think you shouldn't play 1 2 3 4 5 6 because it can never come up but are happy to play some other set of numbers that have exactly the same probability. Plenty of people tnink statistical analysis of drawings gives them an edge, it doesn't. Others think that curve fitting to past results can be used to predict future results, it doesn't.

Lately, the Lottery seems to be aiming toward games with a faster turnaround as opposed to having them linger for years. Likely they've run the numbers and found that even with the expense of ordering and promoting a new game it's more profitable to do that than it is to reorder old ones and let them stagnate.
