Maryland Lottery Countdown to Millions raffle results
I went back on my word and broke down and brought one ticket about 11 hours before the drawing. That number was 238313 which did not win a thing. What I don't understand is how the MSLA can release numbers like...625,000 tickets sold, when at 12:15 on the day of the drawing, they had sold under 239,000 tickets. Anyway, the tickets are too expensive at $20.00 a pop. I will not participate in the raffle style drawings again. I brought 4 tickets with the first drawing in january and won nothing

What would you do if you had the winning lottery ticket BUT.
Viceroy, In response to your post. Common sense prevails here. In the state of Oregon the release of your full name and the place were you bought the winning ticket is released to the public. You will be initially taxed 25% federally and 8% for the state of Oregon on Megabucks or Powerball prizes in excess of $600. But that is not your final tax obligation to the departments of revenue for your state and federal government. I am sure a tax adviser or tax attorney could help you with this

Millions in Atlantic Lottery winnings under police investigation
Police will examine millions of dollars worth of questionable winnings by lottery retailers after an independent investigation revealed gaping holes in how the Atlantic Lottery Corp. protects its customers from dishonest sellers. In the latest blow to Canada's embattled lottery business, a forensic accounting team found what the Crown-owned agency described as unethical and suspicious dealings between some retailers and purchasers in Atlantic Canada. Larry Doherty, a vice-president at

$75M Texas Lotto jackpot claimed by business partnership
I have better systems now than when I was 28. At that time I didn't bother much with regular numbers games like Pick-3 or Pick-4. I wanted only the big jackpot. Even though a lot of winners on jackpots are QP I STILL think that's because a lot more people PLAY QP but I wonder if there is a way to get some kind of statistics of how many people win with systems vs. QP vs. the overall field . If (rough example) 100 players are sampled playing the same # tickets each and 80 use QP and 20 picked the

Setting a trust for anonymity: how does it work?
Here is what I know for Michigan residents regarding this subject. This is a response to my email questions on blind trusts for Mi residents. This information was emailed to me from the Michigan Lottery. The rules of Mega Millions state that any jackpot winner must release - their name and city of orgin . I don't know anything about a blind trust, that would be a question for an attorney. But a check can only be made out to either a winner or a Lottery Club . If you chose to claim your ticket

I am going to try to change the rules about annonymity...
There's a post here on the board about someone in Oklahoma who won a few months ago (Powerball?) and remained anonymous. A very generic press release was put out about how the winner declined to hold a press conference but encouraged everyone to play because they too might win. Rundown99 made the point about if you want to be anonymous, play in a state that allows it. Now I'm wondering if you played in one of those states, if you'd have to disclose anything publicly in your home sta

Not sure if I should release new feature...
That's something I think about a lot, which is why I tend to be tight-lipped about these things. It's bad enough when a certain strategies site monitors Lottery Post and copies everything I do, but to have someone take an idea I leaked and then release it like their own idea would be much worse. (BTW, that site has now copied my Flash-based lottery results map. I guess they realized my custom-built interactive map looks a lot better than their map picture they copied off the web. They al

2-23-07, Movie: The Number 23, and Mega # tonight?
Nice number drill! 2 followed by 3 is a linguisztic thing that is used in advertising, believe it or not. Remember LSMFT (Lucky Strike cigarette commercials- Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco)? LS (2) MFT (3), this 2 followed by 3, 23. Yeah, true, the 23 stuff is movie release hype, but I was thinking along the lines of 'cosmic' or 'universal consciousness' - enough people thinking about something and they unwittingly manifest it. Remember last year when all those people i

$3.5m CT ticket to expire
CT is still waiting to release the winning location, in case someone mailed in the winning ticket postmarked by 2/14/07. What will happen to the unclaimed funds? Straight from the horse's mouth: If the jackpot isn't claimed, what will happen with the prize money? The Lottery has several options: One, the money can be returned to the State's General Fund, where it is used to support many valuable services and programs. Two, it can be used to supplement prizes in other lottery games.
