Any Millionaire for Life Winners?
Powerball is $3 here in Idaho. They bundle the multiplier with it for your convenience. Can't buy a ticket here without the multiplier. Then we have the Double Play for another dollar which isn't a bad price for a chance at a $10 million dollar top prize. So for me, Powerball already costs $4.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Our pool has tickets for the next Mega Millions draw. One ticket has a 10 times multiplier. This is the first time we got the largest multiplier.

Oregon Lottery proposes rules regulating courier services and preventing bulk ticket purchases
It's because of the stupid 2X multiplier and the baseline starting jackpot. Eliminate the 2X multiplier and increase the starting baseline jackpot to $150M and you will see the new MM pop. The players are a lot smarter than the LOTTERY SUITS give them credit for. They need to see what they are paying for .

"Typical day" turns into $2 million Mega Millions win for Washington man
The dreaded 2X multiplier is what makes the new MM suck royally. Eliminate the 2X multiplier and while at it make the starting jackpot $100M and a lot of us will thank you. Congrats to the winner of $2M because half a loaf is better than none. Come to think of it, $2M is nothing to sneeze at.

First drawing of new Mega Millions game produces 5X more winnings compared to older version
I purchased one on Monday and another on Tuesday and both were assigned a multiplier of X2. I got one number on both tickets. The problem I have with this new version is the cost first of all and the how fair is it that people pay $5, but some win 10X more while others win 2X. So I win $20,000 or $2,000,000 while the more fortunate people with a randomly selected 10X multiplier win $200,000 or $10,000,000. It just isn't fair.

will you play the new $5 mega millions?
Here is a breakdown of the changes, which may cause some of you to reconsider (especially if you haven't read the Lottery Post article):
Mega Ball 24 - 25 will be removed, making either 24 or 23 total. KRCA says 24. Current odds are 1 in 302 million. The new odds are 1 in 278.369 million according to Lottery Post's article (23 Mega Balls?). KRCA says ~290 million (24 Mega Balls?). For reference, Powerball odds are currently 1 in 292.201 million. The new Mega Millions will be easier to win th

Mega Millions confirms ticket price increase to $5, other changes coming April 2025
Yes. Increased odds.. not by a lot, but increased. (But I did say that you would be slightly better off.)
As for the lowest level prize.. It is a minimum of $10 (because of the compulsory multiplier), and an expected average payout of $15. max payout $50 (Expected average multiplier value is 3x... just like the current multiplier). for a $5 ticket.
So, if you win a prize, you are have at least doubled your investment .
Which is an improvement over the existing model where just h

Mega Millions confirms ticket price increase to $5, other changes coming April 2025
I think that you will find that the $5 includes the multiplier. It isn't a compulsory $1 add on to the new basic ticket. The new basic ticket ($5) includes the multiplier

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
While there are games that cost more than $5..... $10 scratchers, $20 scratchers, $50 scratchers, $20 raffle tickets, etc., the difference is that in those games, you have a vastly higher chance of winning a large amount of money.
The problem with the new $5 MM is that they didn't change much of anything. It includes the multiplier for lower prizes (instead of giving you a choice to pay the extra $1). They included a 10X possibility but re-arranged the other multiplier odds to give you preci

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Was looking at Powerball's site and noticed the breakdown of winners and power play winners.
Looks like about 80% of players don't choose the multiplier.
So, MM's goal was to force 80% of the their players to take the Extra $3.00 Multiplier.
Meanwhile, Powerball gets to $1 Billion Plus with $2.00 the Optional $1.00 Multiplier.
