Is it legitimate to get a lawyer to claim a jackpot winner's winnings and maintain thewinners identity as anonymous?Has this been done before by any jackpot winner? What is it called? Trust Law?

Which state in Powerball that allow anonymous claiming? As far as I know itis only Delaware.What about the Big Game? Are there any states that allow a winner to claim anonymously?If not, how does someone get a lawyer to claim on his behalf (thus remaing anonymous)? I presume it is the law of trust but can any legal knowledged person here advice me on it?How does it work?Thanks a lot for any replies from the kind people here. Cheers. Karam

Powerball winner-turned lawmaker opposes anonymity for lottery prizewinners
Michigan has been an anonymous state since 1989! In the 30 years since Michigan allowed anonymity there have been no major issues that have come to light. If there was something major that is bad about allowing anonymous claims it certainly would have shown up during the 30 years it has been allowed here and you would have read many stories on LP. Anonymity has worked so well here that most people in other states didn't/don't realize that Michigan has been anonymous for 30 years!

Bill would allow N.C. lottery winners to remain anonymous
If they go anonymous I hope they are not as schizophrenic as Michigan. Until 1988 Michigan lottery prizes were not taxed on Michigan income taxes and you were NOT allowed to remain anonymous. In 1988 the state income tax applied to the prizes and you were then allowed to remain anonymous on prizes over $10,000.

Illinois and the other non-anonymous states need to learn from this
OK, we had a record breaking jackpot won by people in three states, two of those states allow remaining anonymous, and the people in those two states have claimed their jackpots.
The remaining winner, from Illinois, a non-anonymous state has not.
In Illinois, it's plastered on the terminal monitors where you buy your ticlets, Illinois record winner, Red Bud..... No doubt they're dying to put a name on there.
