Audit finds gaps in Oregon Lottery security
A state audit has concluded that the Oregon Lottery should tighten user access to computer data and improve security at employee workstations. The points were raised in an annual financial audit that the state Audits Division released Wednesday. The audit found no major problems for the year ending in mid-2004 but brought up a few issues that require management's attention, the audit said.A letter accompanying the audit said that Oregon Lottery managers should review computer-access rights when

Are Lotteries Rigged
Jim695 I'm no genius, but I know that if something is computerized, it uses a PROM chip or an EPROM chip, which means that it can be programmed. Consider this: If the Hoosier Lottery has their little computerized electronic random number generator tied into their central computer, which tracks players' selections and wager amounts, they can easily minimize payouts on their daily games and, at the same time, build their Lotto jackpot at will (bigger jackpots = more ticket sales), and who w

Lawyers seek to depose lottery fraud mastermind in prison
Lawyers pursuing a class-action lawsuit on behalf of lottery customers nationwide are seeking to interview the jailed insider who allegedly rigged jackpots for himself and others for years.
The lawyers said in a court filing Friday they want to take the deposition of Eddie Tipton at the prison in Clarinda, Iowa, to gather information for their case against the Multi-State Lottery Association.
Judge Michael Huppert recently granted class-action status to the case, which involves customers w

Infamous lottery scammer says US computerized lottery drawings remain fatally flawed
Eddie Tipton warned them.
As the head of IT at the Multi-State Lottery Association, Tipton pulled aside his boss and told him the computer software that randomly selected the winning numbers for million-dollar games in as many as 17 states had a terrible flaw.
It wasn't really random.
Though his boss listened, Tipton told state investigators that other officials with the nation's chief lottery system did not. They told him to fix it, then moved on.
A disgruntled Tipton made some upda

Texas Lottery drawings inspire confidence
Contrasted to the Arkansas Lottery decision last week to hide their drawings inside a computer, Texas has a model approach
Stephanie Guidry and Mickey Roberts didn't have much else to do, so they stopped in front of the Texas Lottery Commission offices to watch the winning numbers be drawn.
And because she and boyfriend Mickey Roberts had nothing pressing against their schedule from 10:09 to 10:13 on a weeknight, she stayed for the adventure.
Even though they did not purchase a lottery

Computerized drawings are nice ...
Why are you continuing to beat a dead horse? You already mentioned that you were enraged, so we all get it. Frankly, nothing has transpired here that should enrage anybody. You stated your opinion, and several other people stated their opinions.
That's what a discussion forum is for.
Lottery Post does not exist so that you can post an outrageous statement like computerized drawings are great! and everyone has to sit there quiet because they are afraid of enraging you.
You can pos

Everyone.
I love states that use ball machines and have a live webcast of their drawings. The PA evening drawing is one of only four states that use ball machines, and have a live webcast of their drawings so I'll definitely be back to post more when I find something to play.

I say this in the most caring and tough love way possible. Focus on developing a better strategy. Those of us who win on a regular basis don't bemoan/whine about the drawings being rigged. It's just that you haven't figured a strategy that allows you to consistently win yet. We already know anomalies happen. NC uses mechanical ball machines. Of course, it's possible to rig them but I'd bet that the likelihood is significantly lower compared to states that use computerized drawings. If your conce

Tenn. lawmakers want to force lottery to drop computer draws
This article is a little scary. It makes me feel bad that the elected officials cant work together to solve this matter. Jason Mumpower is on the right tract. Gov. Phil Bredesen should realize it's the people who play the lottery and they should have had a say so in the mater. The lawmakers agreed to a lottery and now he doesn't want them to be a part of reorganizing the lottery drawings. The people depend on the lawmakers to make decisions for them when they do not have a direct say so in the m

TENNESSEE LOTTERY-e mail response to computerized drawings
We appreciate your comments but the decision has been made to go to an exciting way to hold our drawings using the latest in automated technology, joining numerous lotteries throughout the world that use similar computerization.
Cash 3, Cash 4, Lotto 5 and Hot Trax drawings will be conducted at the Tennessee Lottery's headquarters in Nashville using one of two automated drawing machines. These are stand-alone computers that operate as random number generators. A random number generator consis
