Too Much House?
I agree, not worth your time or life renovating ANY kind of property in a crime, ridden city where vandalism and theft is second nature for many of the residents. I have seen some of these neighborhoods and no way in hell would I even purchase property there. Like others have mentioned, location takes precedent over any kind of home. I would much rather have the worse house in a highly desirable neighborhood than a dream home in a neighborhood in which I may get shot just walking out my home

Indiana Scratch-Off Thread
You obviously didn't read the post and play us for stupid by saying it's okay. Also, all you are doing is analyzing top prizes remaining per a percentage of tickets which can be done easily by just visiting the site. Trying to legitimize theft with a blanket statement of it's ok it happens everywhere nothing to see here does not sit well with me. Can you tell me how many states close games with 3/3 top prizes remaining after selling almost half the tickets? There distribution system allows them

N.C. man almost drove past $1 million lottery win
with scratch offs you have to go to the right store at the right time and buy the right ticket. 3 tough hurdles to get past to win. now did he set the automatic gas tank dispensing nozzle so he could scratch the ticket while it dispensed the gas or did he hold the trigger with his left hand while scratching the ticket with his right hand. that would be sick. i'm guessing the former and he just stopped the auto pumping (which stops when tank is full by itself) midstream and jumped in his truck an

Unclaimed jackpots from games that ended?
It depends. In Florida, when a new game comes out, the local lotto distributor picks up the older games from the grocery stores and some other retailers and those rolls get deactivated. If a top prize is deactivated, the lotto website does not reflect the change. Also, there are prizes which are not claimed because people throw them away believing they are losers. I believe that accounts for 90% of the unclaimed top prizes. Some rolls may not make it into circulation because of defects, theft, d

Why do jackpot winners feel the need for an attorney or financial adviser?
Take the annuity and avoid all the headaches. Unless you are a financial adviser or somebody in the financial arena, take the annuity. Otherwise there is a good chance you will lose all your money by error, theft, bad investments, bad advice, or/and excessive purchases. You can even lose your life, your spouse due to so much stress right off the bat. Give yourself time to become responsible and educated in the financial area. The first payment is more likely more than enough to live comfortably

UPDATE: $15 million winning Florida Lotto ticket expires tonight
This is why I favor a player's card system. More state lotteries should offer the option. The other option is a subscription, if you win a large prize the lottery will contact you, small prizes are credited to your subscription account. Both offer protection against loss or theft of your ticket.

Police official tried to cash in stolen lottery ticket
US should offer player registration systems. It would help players protect their tickets against loss or theft. The state lotteries could also generate additional revenue from such systems. It's a win win situation!

My state is awful, the publish the first, middle, and last name of winners along with street address, date of birth, and social security number. Great way to leave someone open to identity theft huh?

Would you quit your job if you won the lottery?
Sully16, I am sorry to hear that! This is a painful experience on several levels to a person. Yet another evidence of overpopulation, inflation increasing, theft increasing, and wistful employers/companies not receiving the community/nation support they require to keep and ADD to their full-time employees each year! Love/charity your neighbor -- switch to mainly buying American services and products people.

your other job
Retired now, was in the Army, worked for the post office, and casinos. Also dabbled in a few things that just didn't take off, a lawn sprinkler company in Seattle, and a company that made prescription windshields. The idea was people who wore glasses or contacts wouldn't need them to drive - and as a side benefit, prescription windshields would really cut down auto theft.
