Remember in an analysis of anonymity for a state, it is not typically just a yes or no like Maryland where it is 100% anonymous and they stress that fact. Anonymity can be limited based on a time period and/or amount won, type of game, and subject to state FOIA and similar laws. Or if a state says no to anonymity, it MAY allow you to claim via a llc or trust. And whether your name is released as the winner will also vary. So it is not just a simple yes or no answer.

I live in a state that allows winners to claim any amount of winning anonymously. Should luck ever be on my side and I win a jackpot, I would love to be anonymous. It feels good to be worth 500M and still be able to go to the local store or restaurant without having to look over your shoulder and just blend in with everybody.

Spend a lot. Save enough. Invest the majority. From 2 billion down to less than 650 million after taxes. If I can't buy a small city with that I'd definitely buy a neighborhood or partner with other investors and buy shares of neighborhoods. I guess I just want my own city. Congrats to Edwin but it sucks to be in a state where you can't be anonymous when you win.

The key word is the name may be released if there is a records request. You're probably misunderstanding what may means. It may depend on the state. But my understanding is the trust only has to be created before its claimed not before the numbers are drawn. I haven't looked at every state but personally I think the best state to win in would be Texas. It allows claims to be both and anonymous and through a trust. It has no state taxes due. And because you have to choose lump sum or annuity when you purchase the ticket, it isn't included as income until actual receipt. There may be other states that also prov
