Trial begins for "Lottery Lawyer" Jason Kurland; claims he is as much of a victim as lottery winners
Wow. I look forward to the Netflix movie. If he gets less than 20 years, it will be a mockery of justice. That article deserves an award.
I saw several well known mafia members many years ago when I was having dinner with friends in the Chicago area at a small Italian restaurant. It really was like a scene from a movie with their behavior and speech. 4 of them were seated at a table. They offered to pay for our dinner and I said no thanks. Then we ate quickly and left. We were all law student

LOL. He probably justified it by telling himself:
1) they're too rich to be affected by losing a couple mill 2) their money wasn't earned but fell in their laps by dumb luck 3) most lottery winners end up broke anyway according to YouTube
The Bloomberg article has some hilarious extra details about his plastic surgeon brother-in-law and how he also got wrapped up in the scheme too. A DrBFixin who wrote The Brazilian Butt Lift Bible.

$366.7 million Powerball jackpot won in Vermont
A fascinating article. Taking advantage of folks who weren't /aren't used to having a sudden windfall and an easy target for these thugs.
The part of the red car following that guy and wearing a hockey mask was off the chain. Glad he lost him.
Would love a follow up to this story to see how convictions went. The sad part is those folks probably won't get any of their lottery money ever...all gone.

Re: public defender. According to the article, he only took home about $4 million in 2017. That amount is easy to blow through in a few years if you're dumb and impulsive, which he clearly is. The real scandal is that he dropped his wife like a hot potato. Maybe the missus/ex-missus has a chunk of that money that he can't touch.
I'd rather not speak ill of the dead and speculate on his pa

Big letdown for North Carolina lottery "winner" when barcode proves false win
I see there was $500 under the '3,' Kinard recalled. It's a 50 times multiplier so by my calculations that's $25,000.
Find it odd the article doesn't show the entire ticket including the bar code. We can see the line in the middle of the ticket, but can't tell if it effected the bar code. The left hand margin under HOW TO WIN doesn't line up either. The W in winning is to the left of the M in match and so is the N in number.
Possibly why the 1 was far left of the 3 .

Husband sends Wife to cash $250 Lottery ticket. She comes back with $10. Ouch! :O
The article didn't even mention that she was blind.
Thanks for revealing that.
No wonder she got ripped off!
Dog gone it to heck, there are laws against that!

Betting methods duplex, rotation matrix, Banker and so on.
Hi David Lotto, welcome to LP. Here is a technical paper on a betting strategy called the Kelly Criterion: https://www.princeton.edu/~wbialek/rome/refs/kelly_56.pdf
(First published in the Bell System Technical Journal, Vol. 35, Issue 4, July 1956)
I'd suggest reading the original article first and then the watered down wikipedia summary. You should be warned that none of these betting strategies can guarantee a profit. Lotteries put a lot of effort into making sure their drawings are rand

Maryland man bags $52,000 Pick 4 prize after playing the same numbers for nine years
From the OP.;
While he didn't play them every day, Grimmas would use the number combination whenever he felt lucky, racking up some wins over time on boxed tickets. However, in 2017 there was one drawing he skipped that produced his lucky combination straight.
///////////////////////////////////
How do you get that the article indicates he probably did play the numbers everyday?
