Fooled by Randomness
Mega-ThinkTank, I'm still waiting for someone to explain what causes the patterns you perceive in the results, assuming there are patterns other than RANDOM NOISE. I happen to know from a lot of experience that a Neural Network can be Trained to predict the next event in a sequence with Incredible Precision, as long as the predictions are made exclusively within the data that was used to optimize the parameters. I suspect you might be experiencing some analogy to this, causing you to believe

What's with NY Sweet Million??
The top prize of the Sweet Million game is not pari-mutuel, it is a fixed amount. Therefore, the top prize does not roll. However, in the event that there are more than 5 first prize winners, those winners will share $5,000,000 in proportion to the number of winners. Paragraph above is New York Lottery's response to my inquiry regarding how the prize would be split among more than five first prize winners in one drawing. August Sweet Million promotion is a player gets th

Statistically Speaking - QP's and PP's
this particular response is not aimed at you, but is a 'continuation' of who i am, and for the benefit of those who believe as i do, and is aimed at those who do believe, to bolster their faith / experience. (1) there is no dumn luck involved, in a pre-ordained moment of time, future tense, to a person who knows , pre-event. i am one such person (2) believers like myself don't consider noah a fictional character , and recent scientific studies / exploration seem to indicate that it isn'

Is the Millionaire Raffle ADM Hacker Proof?
My subject line question may upset some, and confuse others. Let me explain. I am a retired computer programmer/analyst with considerable experience designing and implementing encryption systems, as well as intimate knowledge of how sequences of random numbers can be produced. Rather than go into a long and esoteric mathematical explanation of random number generation, I will cut to the chase and direct my question to those who will know exactly what I'm talking about. Hopefully, at least one of

Is There Any Way To Predict Pick-5? Past Performance is "Gamblers Fallacy"
Yes.. I think you hit it Gas. We are trying to compare apples and oranges. But my buddy told me that the Binomial Formula is meant to predict a 2-sided coin toss... which is a random event. Whcih should work for lotto.. but it doesn't. But that gets back to the randomness of the early part of a coin flip.. the more flips you do... the results will tend to even out to equal amouts of Head/Tails. I have noticed that is similar with Lotto numbers.. the further Number of draws you go back.. t

The REAL reason lotteries like RNG.
It s more than being lazy to run a RNG, think $. Now when a live televised event is dropped , all that budgeted expense can be shifted elsewhere. The people in the office cubes can get, . More money for other things, . Like raises. Or host a big USA/Canada conference with FUN, FUN, FUN at plush and swank resorts. Get first class executive passage on 'business' trips. How about expanding the fleet autos? There is lot s of places this money can go and it will not be back to you. Some of the

Texas Lottery player wins fourth multi-million-dollar prize
lb, this is where lottery pools shine most, and, why it would've really shined in your particular case here. It's not guaranteed that a big win will take place even with several higher end tickets purchased. But, in the event of a complete loss as described here, several people as partners could've shared the total miss instead of just you taking the whole miss financially. As I stated before, it's only an idea which would work well in cases like this. The partners would need to establish a g

How The Winners, Not Numbers, Are Picked. A Theorem.
Hmmmm. Mind if I put on my white belt and shoes while I comment? THREE! ! ! ?//? Now if I were a crooked lottery and I wanted to get more participation in the games, and if people wanted more winners of smaller jackpots, And I could get elevated sales from the idea that several QP s win on an Event (average?), . And my state along with all the others are running in the red, . And my state wins more when sales are up, .and the sales have been slipping,... I would get people to perceive
