N.C. store owner accused of stealing winning lottery ticket
well Johnnyb......I think the last name Patel.........is like Smith in this country....this is the 3rd story with a person involved with a party store who's name is Patel.....so what have I learned from this.......
1.....check your ticket before going into the store

Retailers worried about loss of revenue, store traffic
For Tushar Patel, every $1 lottery ticket he sells at his Pantry 1 Food Market in Hammonton yields more than the 5-cent commission he gets from New Jersey.
Patel said he makes more from the other purchases of customers who visit the store for lottery tickets.
Eighty (percent) to 90 percent of the people who play the lottery here buy coffee and other things, Patel said.

Don't forget to also change your last name to Patel. It seems that name comes up a lot in lottery stories, whether as them being the winner or having sold the ticket. There's been at least 4 others involved in either winning or selling winning tickets for $1,000,000 or more.

Brothers sharing $1M Georgia Lottery jackpot
With a few scratches, brothers Samoeun and Samoeuth Am have achieved a lofty goal only dreamed about by most Americans.
On Jan. 4, Samoeuth Am drove from his Jacksonville home to the El Cheapo gas station on Ga. 40 in Kingsland to buy some Georgia Lottery tickets. Among them was a Georgia's $500 Million Club ticket with a top prize of $1 million.
Am, who is unemployed, said he scratched off the ticket, which costs $20, near the cash register and stared at the ticket in disbelief.

Clerk tricks lotto winner, pockets money
Lottery players with a system that wins don't think of themselves as gamblers, even some system players who lose don't think of themselves as gamblers. Maybe Mr and Mrs Patel has a system for picking scratchers that are winners.

Patel, however, said he knows the rules and would never cash a customer's ticket under his name. I don't do that, he said. No, but they will scan scratch off tickets to see if they are winners prior to selling them if they can get away with it.
