Flowchart for Jackpot Claiming
All: Hopefully this is easy to follow. Unfortunately, I cannot post the fancy version I created as an image. Flowchart Options for Claiming a Jackpot. Your state is 100% anonymous for individuals per the lottery rules. (your win is over the threshold amount for anonymity and there are no time limit restrictions on the anonymity). Your state is 100 % non anonymous for individuals per the lottery rules. Limited anonymity. Your state is anonymous for a limited

Study: Neighbors of lottery winners are more likely to go bankrupt
Maybe what I researched was old, but it basically said in Canada you cannot remain anonymous, however certain situations may warrant an anonymous win, though not done very frequently. The rules vary slightly in different Canadian Provinces. The one case I found was a couple won 27 million CD and they stayed anonymous. So your nosy non-winner neighbors cannot keep up with the Jones'. Enlighten me LP posters on current regulations on remaining anonymous in Canada. If the Caesars Windsor

Court hears arguments on $559M lottery winner's plea to remain anonymous
Is Todd monitoring these threads? Because I have a question. There are true anonymous states. And then there are states that allow to claim anonymously . There is a difference in a true anonymous state which is state law and a lottery commission that allowed the winners name not to be published. I hope someone out there understands what I am saying. Because California allowed a winner to claim anonymously in the past, but it is NOT a anonymous state. It has to do with state law.

You Just Won The Lottery!
Very good question! I live in Georgia near the border of Georgia and South Carolina. I play in both states. For some reason, I win more often in Georgia, but I make it a point to purchase PB and MM tickets in South Carolina for the simple fact of the option to remain anonymous. Can you believe that I've actually purchased tickets and gas at the store in Lexington, SC that sold that big jackpot in 2013? I didn't get tickets for that particular draw, though. That person chose to remain anonymous.

Maryland Mega Millions jackpot winner claims prize
Yeah, but there are some in here that are more... conspiracy-minded . I personally don't have a problem with it. I believe there's only six states that allow for anonymous claiming, so maybe it's the states that DON'T allow anonymous claiming that have a problem with it. Should lottery winners remain anonymous? Lotteries object, arguing that publicizing the winners' names drives sales and that having their names released ensures that people know there isn't something fishy afoot, like

Pa. lawmaker wants to give lottery winners right to remain anonymous
I Love this but only selfishly. I've deliberately gone out of my way to purchase tickets in anonymous Lottery States because if i win i want NO ONE to know. I love this move but its a slippery slope. If i win, i want to remain anonymous. If you win, you want to remain anonymous, fair. But what happens when it all goes 'dark' and no one really knows anyone who wins??? Not good. Its tricky and i'm not sure what the solution is. Maybe it could be set up where if the win is a multi-state pot (PB/MM)

Do some number combinations have better odds?
No, I'm here to show people through science that they should not spend any more on the lottery than their entertainment budget will allow. By the way, in your parting shot at me in another thread that was closed before I had a chance to reply, you referred to me as a pansy. I wonder if you could tell us just what the problem was there that caused the thread to be closed. Secondly, how could an ordinary, run of the mill, anonymous poster at LP, such as yourself, know anything about another ano

N.Y. lottery winner and tenant fight thief
Anonymous claiming would minimize this from happening, but word gets around, even if it's anonymous. If you win and tell just one friend, word will get out. If you win, have no family, and tell no one, friends may notice if you change lifestyle, buy new things, and so on. If every winner was kept anonymous, then there would be some people who would complain that the lottery was fixed, because all the winners were anonymous and they would think it should be public record to prove the lotter

TODAY'S POLL: Scenarios of remaining anonymous
CHOICE A: Winning the jackpot in an anonymous state where you MUST walk into the lottery headquarters to claim prize (DE, ND, KS, SC, MD) CHOICE B: Winning the jackpot in an anonymous state whereas you can send a trustee (such as a tax attorney) to the lottery headquarters to claim the prize through a trust or foundation (OH, NH, LA, OK) Which choice would you prefer and why?

I am going to try to change the rules about annonymity...
This thread is not a discussion about the desire to remain anonymous, but rather if a player has the right to do it when he buys a ticket. If the rules are printed on the ticket and they clearly state you do not have that right, then the person should not buy a ticket. It is the same as wanting a lump sum when you win a game that only has a 20 or 30 year payout. Don't buy a ticket if you don't agree with what will happen if you win. Actually Justxploring, i'm not splitting hairs with you bu
