N.C. Lottery trial: prosectutor calls ex-commissioner 'crafty'
Former lottery commissioner Kevin Geddings is a very crafty individual who chose to deliberately withhold information about his work for a lottery company, a prosecutor said Wednesday during closing arguments in Geddings' federal fraud trial.
His duty was to the public and not to himself, Assistant U.S. Attorney Dennis Duffy told jurors, who received their instructions Wednesday afternoon and were scheduled to start deliberations Thursday.
During his 90-minute statement, Duffy describe

CT: Hope you're not offended at being made a Partner in Crime!
First of all, if we're talking about a mechanical ball machine draw, cracking codes is not relevant, IMO. In the case of computerized draws, saying that, the lotteries just might have people employed to make sure the code can't be cracked... is implying that there is a conspiracy at the Lottery which is producing a series of draws that could conceivably be deciphered and predicted by unraveling, or cracking some aspect of th

California man turns in lottery scammers
When Daniel Larsen of Pleasanton got a letter from a Canadian company called Saatchi Saatchi, he thought he had hit the jackpot literally.
Enclosed in the envelope was a check for $4,900 and a letter saying this was just the start of a much bigger payday.
It said I had won $250,000, said the 45-year-old painting contractor. And the ($4,900) check looked so real, I really thought I may have for a minute.
However, as Larsen continued to read the letter, the company explained how h

Wisconsin Republicans to hold hearing on lottery privacy bill
Apparently I made a major mistake asking you a simple question that you never answered BTW. You said:
Fraud and harassment are major hazards that if reduced could see more players for the Lottery's bottom line. We do not know how many players do not play because of threats.
You said nothing about huge jackpot winners and it sure looks like you were saying more people would play but won't because if they beat 300 million to 1 odds, they might get threats. There is a huge difference betwee

By Jason Clayworth
Two brothers who were behind the largest lottery scam in U.S. history and owe more than $2.3 million in unpaid restitution and court fees recently transferred several properties they owned to their mother.
The transfers from Eddie and Tommy Tipton have raised further questions about why four states Oklahoma, Kansas, Wisconsin and Colorado have yet to seize their properties.
It has been about two years since the brothers admitted their role in a scam that hijacked lott
