'You assume all the money noise stops when you finally have it'
Very well written article, Todd. I remember when Shaquille O'Neal's Dad, who hadn't been in the picture his whole life suddenly appeared when he became an NBA Superstar. Obviously Dad wanted his piece of the pie and commend him for not giving in to him. Hats of to you Peta* for following your instincts and not bowing to your absent Dad. Of course every situation is different and since I and millions of others have never been in this situation who's to say what another person would do...not

california lottery
Good post Edessaknight! From the article, for the anti quick pick crowd; There was no special method to landing the big win- it was merely a stroke of luck. The numbers were computer-generated throughQuick Pick: 27-68-17-19-40 and the Mega Number, 2.

Lottery Post becomes installable app for mobile users
Rave62, Is that an iPhone (Apple) or an Android (other than apple). I cannot find it to save my life. I have lottery post on my phone--but cannot find an app or where the Add to Home Screen is on iPhone (Apple). A picture is worth a thousand words--and I'm sure your picture will help someone. Thanks for posting. Anyone using an iPhone that found the Add to Home Screen -- please explain--I'm just not getting it from the article. I can usually figure these things out but I'm lost so far.. Florida mom, son arrested hours after claiming $20K lottery prize
Picture is worth a thousand words. Fine outstanding citizens there, perhaps they divided into some of them drugs themselves. So whatever was left from taxing $20K will be spent on being stupid. Sounds like they were under surveillance. Only good I got out of the article is that FL has regional cashing offices, right? Used to think one would have to travel to Tallahassee to claim. Going to look that up now for my own curiosity.

CT Lottery quiet as uncomfortable allegations pile up
While stationed in Nuernberg, Deutschland a female Soldier friend of mine was sexually harassed by a superior. She reported it, however the upper echelon of the Chain of Command said she should have told the perpetrator to stop it. This was in the late 80's. (From what I gather the military still has problems with this). Case in point is the notion that safeguards are in place in the CT lottery reminds me of the Army story. Baloney is what I say and glad the FBI was notified. Whistleblower pr

Interesting statement
Very interesting article. That is why one would have to keep themselves intellectually challenged. Your free time and vacation time is so valuable pre-lottery jp win, because it is sporadic and limited. But if your life turns into Christmas every day, that would get old fast. The law of diminishing returns. I am always amazed by people who have no interests outside of their jobs. Those are the winners who would get bored quickly. Growing up, my parents stressed how all of their children neede

North Carolina retiree wins $344.6 million lottery jackpot using fortune cookie numbers
Another article says his wife is from Vietnam, so the Asian gentleman is probably a son or inlaw. He said he'll donate to St. Judes, Shriner's, and Wounded Warrior. Good. The scary thing is he won on Saturday and picks up cash (giant check) on Tues. I hope he had enough time to get the proper legal/tax/financial advisers lined up! For me, if I win the MegaMillions jackpot, I will invest in a chicken ranch with mutant large chickens. Then I'll sell the eggs as Megga Eggas .

Too Much Money?
Thank You KY Floyd for this very informative article on Charities. There is a lot more to them besides giving them a check. Have you heard of Donor Advised Funds ? I believe it is like a foundation but less restrictions are placed on it. A winner will have the best attorneys to fight the IRS.
