Georgia Lottery denies millions in prizes to winners of scratch-off games
Clarence Dobson, who listed his address as a post office box in Patterson, Ga., was denied prizes of $1,000 and $5,000 in November 2014. A letter to Dobson said the prize money would not be awarded because he had redeemed 43 tickets over a three-year period, and claimed multiple winning tickets on the same day. I sell lottery tickets at my job. I have a customer who spends $100 or more EVERY DAY and he wins a lot. He has the Total printed for his taxes. He also likes to play Combos, which w

Arizona Lottery director not embarrassed about computerized drawing fiasco
What I'll tell you, our players are extremely intelligent people and they know what they're doing when they play these games, he said. He's right. We are intelligent. But that is also not an answer. It's pandering, and I find it insulting. The malfunctioning machine is now undergoing a forensic audit. I hope it's audited by an independent third party and not the contractors who set up the system in the first place. That would be like sending the fox in to inspect the hen house.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
What's up guys? I drastically cut back playing. Only been buying the $5 Full of Crap on fill ups and today we checked out the new Walmart Neighborhood Market that opened in the Villages yesterday on CR 466A to see if they sent any good rolls. Nope, still duds. I think I've played now a total of 10 of these $5 crap tickets since the game came out and haven't even won $5 back. It's pathetic. Given what the FL Lotto is doing changing disclosure rules there doesn't seem to be a legit audit sys

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
My friend had shoe boxes full of losing lottery tickets he brought to an audit last year to write off as losses. The IRS agent disallowed the losing tickets saying 'you could pick them from garbage cans' ....... the agent asked for RECEIPTS proving he bought the tickets. Long story short - read the IRS rules for deductions from winnings. He wound up paying a lot because he could not prove he bought any. I make it a habit to get a receipt for any tickets I buy - even at Publix - I don't know o

Eery experience
that's 100% accurate. you can keep non winning tickets to offset any money you would owe in taxes. There is a section on a w2g sheet for you to enter the amount of gambling losses you have incurred for the year. just be prepared to show proof you spent what you claim in case of an audit.

You should get a check for $75,000 (with $25,000 withheld for taxes). Took about 15 minutes at the regional office. They may ask if you want your picture taken - I declined, don't need the publicity Depending on your situation, you could get back several thousand dollars as a tax refund. Be sure to keep all the old non-winning tickets, both online games and scratch tickets purchased this year. A log of dates purchased helps (online games have store location ID number and date on them) in c

Some NC lottery players win so often, their good fortune defies logic
Yes, I agree, NCEL needs to be investigated more. Especially the practice of ending scratch off games that still have 2nd and 3rd top prizes. If an outsider would do an audit on just the past 3-4 years for example, it might be eye opening to see how many games that were still popular, and good seller's that were pulled. Their standard answer is that they pull games to make way for the new ones, which come out every month. Just last year, they pulled a game that still had at least 3 top prizes. T

With $63M jackpot expiring today, Calif. Lottery sued by owner of damaged ticket
Since the ticket is damaged. There is one thing not damage on the ticket It's on two places on the ticket. All lottery office headquarter keep a ledger on winning tickets. If you were doing a audit on that lottery. The lottery all way knows what tickets are sold , ship out to retailers etc. What left in ticket in any game. What I can see twice on this ticket is in red, the serial number in the middle of the ticket the serial number at the bottom of the ticket. The lottery Knows exactly which ser

The ugly side of the win. How would you deal with close family and friends who...?
Some persons need to be taught things about the lottery. I agree that how generous a lottery winner can be, depends on the net win. The co-winner in all jackpot games is of course, Uncle Sam. I have heard that he will audit winners often. Year after year. Here in California if you win more then $350,000.00 the Lottery will interview you separately with Security official. They are protecting the real winners. Making sure that you are the winner. I can guess some of their questions. Are
