Harry Reid pushing to legalize online poker for American casinos, horse tracks
Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is reportedly taking a gamble that would change up the online poker industry.
The popular game may soon be run on the web by casinos in Nevada and across the United States, thanks to legislation being floated by the Nevada senators' staffers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
American financial institutions were banned from processing online gambling transactions in 2006, costing the industry billions in what has been a rapidly-growing American addiction worth $

stupid lottery questions.
Under varying circumstances, anything can affect your winnings -- war, inflation, executive order, legislation, comet impact.
The lottery going bust won't hurt you. They don't hold onto your annuity money, there are investment firms for that.

Lottery bill could limit winner's take
Never been on it and I have no problem with someone on any government assistance spending one or two bucks every once in awhile on the lottery, people who spend more and play excessively though? I doubt the percentage is so high that everyone needs to be punished. BTW, why do we still call it food stamps? I haven't seen any exchange of stamps ever (yes, way before my time) and the monopoly money in the booklets has been gone for years and years.. People get a card now. Besides that, if someone i

Casino table games are coming to Pennsylvania
It's a done deal at last. Table games are coming to Pennsylvania by the end of the year.
By a vote of 103-89, legislation to legalize poker, blackjack, roulette, and other table games received long-awaited final approval last night in the state House. Gov. Rendell plans to sign the bill today.
The gambling expansion, coming as the commonwealth struggles to pull itself out of the recession, is projected to create thousands of jobs and pump $250 million into the state's revenue-starved coffe

Ohio Lottery opposes state audit
Since we already know that, what kind of useful information do you expect we'd get by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on an audit? The purpose of an audit is to look for irregularities, mismanagement, or inefficiency. Bonuses are either tied to rules, legislation or an employent contract, or based on meeting performance goals. The former can be fixed without an audit by simply changing the rules or the terms of renewed employment contracts. The latter probably means that the fat bonuse

N.D. lottery ticket sales, profits continue slide
This article is chock-full of interesting info. It will be interesting to see if the tri-states allow N.D. to get a slice. The first quad-state game? I think it's a great, creative idea.
Also interesting is the sticky situation created by the lack of scratch-off games. That really hurts. I wonder if they can get some movement on that issue in their legislation, but since it's a constitutional issue, it sounds difficult.

Hawaii residents now taxed on Vegas winnings even if they lose
If you look, the majority of new legislation for new taxes are from the democrats. These people need to remember this at election time, The democrats here in NJ did the same thing and this puppet of a Governor we have says he did'nt know what was in the bill?????
Maybe next time I'll have them add all my outstanding debts and have him pay for it. Tax repeal should start this year. I think they ought to have a politician repeal....!

Internet gambling bill awaits house vote
The reason why that is in place is because lottery tickets cannot be sold over state lines. That rule has been in place for a while. But it is up to each individual state to determine if they want to sell tickets online, as the current UIGEA specifically exempts state lotteries from that (ridiculous) piece of legislation.
Expect to see more states moving soon to sell online - my belief is that they will have to pay out less in commissions this way.

Arkansas lottery retailers to be policed for fraud, officials say
The legislation laying the groundwork for Arkansas' lottery does not require it, but officials say they expect the lottery system to include a security division that will be on the lookout for fraud by retailers.
The problem of fraud by lottery retailers gained new attention in the U.S. in the wake of a 2007 scandal in Canada, where investigators found that retailers and their employees were winning a disproportionately large number of prizes.
Between 1999 and 2006, at least 78 retail owne

Bill limiting lottery prizes of people on public aid fails
I am glad it failed also. I am tired of those Congressmen sitting on their behinds coming up with stupid legislation such as this. If they want to do something..let them work on the sorry a$$ed education system so that when one of the kids win a scholarship, they won't flunk out in the first year of college. They graduate and can't read, write or add. Fix That! Get them some comprehensive reading programs, writing programs and math programs and most of all, MAKE THEM WORK FOR THEIR GRADES!! If t
