Extradition trial begins this week in $16.5M Hot Lotto fraud case
I found this part in the story
Lottery officials balked at paying the amount, saying certain security criteria wasn't met and prosecutors later determined that the attempt was an inside job by Tipton, at the time the security director for the Multi-State Lottery Association, an Iowa-based group that operates state lotteries, including the Hot Lotto.
How many times have my haters called me derogative things ( it is not a conspiracy theory anymore, it is now a conspiracy fact! ) for even men

Legal wheels turning after rigged Hot Lotto drawing uncovered
After months of investigation and legal wrangling, legal actions against two men accused of rigging a multi-state Hot Lotto computerized drawing are proceeding.
When Sugar Land, Texas, resident Robert C. Rhodes endorsed Eddie Tipton on the professional networking website LinkedIn, he deemed his friend and former business partner as someone very focused on the bottom line and someone he would work with again in a second.

BOMBSHELL: MUSL employee might have rigged Hot Lotto computerized drawing
Lottery Post has been warning of the dangers of computerized drawings for over a decade, and now prosecutors of the mystery Hot Lotto winner from Iowa are looking at the possibility that those warnings have come true.
Prosecutors believe there is evidence indicating a former information-security director for a lottery vendor in Iowa tampered with lottery equipment before buying a Hot Lotto ticket that would go on to win $14.3 million, according to court documents filed Thursday.
The trial

Puerto Rico Conspiracy theories
Your frequent appeals to ridicule are not credible arguments. You have an unsubstantiated opinion, as do the conspiracy theorists. Neither side can prove they're right.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, nor am I claiming there was any wrongdoing in the recent Powerball drawing. However, lottery cheating scandals are commonplace throughout history, including in recent years.
There are numerous documented cases of lottery machines being rigged, people being paid to cheat etcetera. Considering t

Race and the lottery
Yes, but again, what is a large number of people? The concept of percentages existed 30 years ago so that should have been included. Good journalism would have approached this question with facts, not unsubstantiated innuendos. If statistics had backed up their claim, then the next step would be to question how the machines could possibly determine the race of the ticket purchaser.
There are a number of people here who believe the lottery is rigged so that only California gets the lions share

What threads entertain lottery officials the most?
I once read an internal email between public relations officials about a well-intentioned but paranoid player, and the official called the player a lunatic to the other official. They find the outlandish ideas of some players ( it's rigged, superstition, ANY system, etc) quite amusing to say the least.
Lotteries know that regardless of price of the bet there will always be someone willing to take the other side. So if the entertainment value of a game is high enough then they will find custom
