Indiana family claims $536 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Several of you are right, Indiana is Not an anonymous state but, they do allow a trust or LLC. They also operate under the laws of the freedom of Information act.
Maybe they plan to continue to work if they own their own business or perhaps they just love what they do. Not everyone wants to change their life and sleep until the crack of noon.
Congratulations, to the family! I love stopping at a gas station when I travel and getting a ticket or two. That is awesome that the lottery held the

$478 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges into top 10
I like your thinking, Happy California; right on line with magic*.
The California lottery tickets just arrived. I thought your CA lottery website said MM/PB could only be purchased for 10 advance draws. The MM one goes 15.
So quite a few bases covered; KY, IN, CA MA. We may go to the anonymous state of OH tomorrow so will play there too.
How's that for you dpoly1???

About trusts and all the nitty gritty after winning
Not sure about liability, but one thing trusts can do is make it hard to find your assets and if you're not seen as someone with deep pockets, someone out for money may not want to bother with you. If you're in an auto accident or something happens on your property, have a good amount of liability insurance to cover it.

Strategy for remaining anonymous
I think the tax laws might get ya. You can only claim a ticket in the state that it was purchased, so the only way the law firm could claim in NC or TX is if the ticket was purchased there. If someone in NC redeems a ticket purchased in, say, Georgia, then Georgia takes their taxes as far as I know. Someone correct me if this is wrong.
Plus, the law firm would pay federal taxes on the prize no matter where it was bought or redeemed. Then when it's transferred to your trust, my guess is you wo

Employee learns he won $5.8M in lottery, finishes 12-hour work shift
I agree, professional, independent financial and legal advice is vital when you win, or inherit, a large sum of money.
I also can't understand why he didn't choose to remain anonymous, as all UK lottery winnings can?
There is absolutely nothing to be gained by going public, but a lot to loose!!!!!!!!

Why doesn't anyone in New Jersey start a ticket buying service?
According to the DE lottery FAQ winners there are taxed...didn't give the rate.
The I/C tax there is 2.2% to 6.6%
However anyone can be anonymous in DE. that's why I buy my tix for the big JPs there.
Don't know how long residency takes.

Can I become anonymous?
The anonymity rules that apply are the ones applicable in the state in which you purchase your winning ticket.
You can stay anonymous by driving up to South Carolina to buy your tickets. Even if you're a resident of FL, South Carolina will let you walk in and say you don't want to be identified, and they will abide by your wishes.
But if you buy your tickets in FL, they will identify your name and state and city of residence. Even if you live in an anon state like South Carolina, if you bu

One New Jersey lottery player wins $429.6 million Powerball jackpot
I didn't realize where that 7-11 was. In fact if I recall over 12 yrs ago I used to do atms and there was a route that did that area. At that time Trenton nj was weird place. SO I am guessing that this woman that won it is very lucky to say the least. Regular customer for sure. That location is a few blocks from a tattoo shop that I have a machine at. Now that area is mixed latino, low class poverty area. Not the greatest of course and some beer establishments, mom and pop places for the poor. M
