$311 MILLION: Here comes Powerball
As noted in his article, Todd wrote: Sharp-eyed readers will notice that the Powerball annuity jackpot is suffering from the same difficulties that Mega Millions faced during its epic 35-drawing run that ended Friday. Sagging interest rates due to the poor economy are depressing the rate of return on invested lottery cash, causing the annuity jackpot to be raised much slower than it normally would. Yes Todd we have noticed that. The ratio of cash to annuity is now up to 71.18971% I r

Indiana lottery ticket wins $540 million Mega Millions jackpot
for all of you obsessed with lists of what place all these jackpots are in lifetime maybe we need lists of the top 25 mm's won on a tuesday both cash and annuity and another for friday's both cash and annuity. same thing for powerball wednesday's and saturday's. then you will have 4 meaningless lists to stare at instead of 2. no one who has ever won cares what place they are in lifetime so why do people who are never going to win (everyone on here) care. also, this nonsense of certain states hav

$333 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot continues climb
In the article, it states The second-prize winner from New Jersey will come home with a much bigger $5 million prize, because they purchased their ticket with the Megaplier option for an extra $1 per play. So their prize was increased to $5 million, because the Megaplier number drawn was 5. According to http://nylottery.ny.gov/wps/portal/Home/Lottery/home/your+lottery/drawing+results/drawingresultsmega it was the ticket purchased in Rhode Island that played the Megaplier to win $5 mil

Puzzling cliff-hanger remains in case of poisoned lottery winner
I guess this takes the idiom of MAKE A KILLING to a new level. Someone in his family did this to him since as the story reports... Though the increasingly devout Muslim had sworn off gambling after a religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, Khan bought a scratch-off lottery ticket at a 7-Eleven near his home in June 2012 . According to an unrelated article, we consume cyanide every day, but not at poisonous levels. Cyanide in Common Foods: Should You Be Worried?

State lawmaker calls for Illinois Lottery probe in light of audit findings
Meanwhile, Illinois is poised to enter a second fiscal year without a budget. As a result, on Thursday, Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger warned that without a new budget agreement, Illinois will again stop paying lottery winners. (source: LotteryPost.com) . . . I'm not sure I understand all of this article, but I do remember when Illinois couldn't or wouldn't pay any winners who won above such-and-such a prize. And now, another year of the same thing? I thank God how I don't live in

Scotland family celebrates third big lottery prize
It is a low blow. The one thing about social media these days is that it's real easy for someone to sit behind a keyboard and spout crap about someone they never met. All of a sudden keyboard commandos become experts on people they don't even know based on a news article and a picture. Kinda sad.

Audit: Illinois Lottery broke law to get around budget impasse
Can someone please give me the Reader's Digest version of this article for me? Apparently the Illinois Lottery knew there was a good possibility the state legislators would not pass the budget so they decided to pre-pay their part in future multi-state lottery games. By doing that the lottery could continue selling PB and MM tickets. State Rep. Jack Franks, D-Marengo, who is a vocal critic of the Lottery Department, said the audit's finding are a big problem related to poor supervision o

NJ family of 8 claims $429.6 million Powerball lottery jackpot
Always wondered: The back of the lottery ticket clearly states One Name Only to be written in. I assumed (if/when I hit the big one) that I would need to create a Trust or LLC in order to bring in the whole family into winner's circle (if family is reading, this in no way constitutes a promise of sharing all of the winnings!). This brings up the question: Would the lottery accept a newly created entity (created after the winning draw) as a winner? How about the IRS?? This article brought

So, what would you do?
Hey, some student loans are so high that it will take a jackpot to pay them off.... I read one article that said if you win the lottery and still have debt after you've spent all your money, you should not be surprised if you get no sympathy from family or friends. ( No lottery jackpot winner should ever have debt after they win). Thanks so sharing!
