NH Powerball lottery winner sues for anonymity
Being anonymous doesn't keep you safe anyway. Your full responsibility does. When it's time to die it is time to die. A one million dollar lottery winner recently died of cancer would he have lived if he was anonymous. A Florida lady also won more than half billion dollars she is not dead. I don't know what will kill you faster claiming you prize on tv like the smart Massachusetts lady that won over $700 millions or applying white off on your ticket and making it invalid. If you seriously consid

NH family claims $487 million Powerball jackpot, wants 'to do great things'
Whether a lottery winner can remain anonymous depends on where they live. Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina allow winners to remain anonymous.

Bill would allow N.C. lottery winners to remain anonymous
Bad idea I want to know real people have won and not just some anonymous person. It could be anybody who won, but to make sure there is no fraud we need to know their names and see their faces. We dont need addresses or anything like that. I mean how do we know it's not lottery officials or their families who are winning all these prizes if it's anonymous? If you make it anonymous all we have is their word that they or their families are not winning and or even playing. Nah keep it public there

It's time the lottery needs to stop releasing a person name and picture when a big win is won!
More bad news for the folks who oppose state lottery privacy laws. Besides the half dozen states that have privacy laws on the books, there are a number of other states where winners can remain anonymous by establishing a TRUST. One of the states that already allows winners to remain anonymous via trust, just happens to be TEXAS:

$400 million S.C. Powerball winner to stay anonymous
Maybe reread this thread? I said that those states (DE, KS, MD, ND, OH) that allow anonymity are the only ones that state explicity in their laws that a person can remain anonymous.
Some people in this thread believe that South Carolina is an anonymous state because in the Lottery Post article that we are discussing, this person wishes to remain anonymous. I've been saying throughout that they can wish it all day long, but that anonymity is not allowed (much like Arizona and all the other sta

Follow-up: Would you take MORE money to NOT remain anonymous?
Coin Toss had a good idea for a follow-up to my last poll. Let's assume that all lotteries already allow you to remain anonymous when collecting your winnings, even for multi-million dollar jackpots. However, as an incentive to subject yourself to the sort of publicity that the lotteries prefer, they're willing to offer you more money on top of the amount you've already won. Would you go for it, or would you be content to stay in the shadows with your advertised winnings?

NJ bill aims to protect lottery winners' identity
!!!
I like the idea. Is there a list of states that currently allow anonymous claiming? Also, in the states that don't allow anonymous claiming is that a for sure thing? There wouldn't be any exceptions that would allow you to claim anonymous?

Maryland Mega Millions winners claim prize anonymously
I think the only stupid ones are the ones who failed to see that the argument was not about remaining anonymous but allowing ALL states the same freedom of choice. But keeping the winners secret only hurts the lottery as there is no proof anyone won, and we wonder if any real people actually won those huge jackpots. Until like the stupid ones I don't take the lottery and media's word for it. Just like those phonies on here who live in states that allow you to remain anonymous. I bet their tune w
