Oklahoma couple checked forgotten Powerball lottery ticket, found out they won $1 million
a Powerball drawing for a $632.5 million jackpot ...
But for four months, the ticket purchased at Harps on East Highway 9 in Norman, Oklahoma had gone unnoticed in a couple's clutter pile on the kitchen table
Reading between the lines it sounds like they're not regular players and that clutter pile only had that one ticket, or perhaps a very few tickets from a few of the recent big jackpots. I suspect a lot of unclaimed tickets happen that way - somebody who doesn't normally play picks

Millionaire for Life multi-state lottery game to replace Cash4Life and Lucky for Life in February
I haven't paid any attention to this game nut I just saw it on the NY lottery's home page for the first time. Obviously everybody gets to decide whether or not they want to play, but here are a couple of thoughts.
The first is largely about playing this or playing PB (or MM) when the jackpot is still small. Generally, at least 8 to 10 million people (5 to 7 isn't unusual for Monday drawings) spend $2 when the annuity is $20 to $30 million (even if you die before the drawing) and the cash val

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Sometimes it's good when the jackpots get won below 500 million, reason being that we don't get into a frenzy and spend more that we planned to
The win will fuel the MM run.
I still got my PB ticket for Saturday, 5M is still a good win.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot increased by $15 million to $230 million after 12 rolls. This sets a new 12 roll record for the current format of the game; an increase of $28 million over the previous record. The overall Mega Millions 12 roll record is $331 million. The 12 roll record for Powerball is $448.4 million. There is an estimated 1.9% chance the Mega Millions jackpot will be won in the next draw.
The gap between the two major jackpots is slowly closing. The Mega Millions jackpot is $74 mi

2026 tax rates now published at USA Mega
I truly feel lucky to live in a state that does not tax the lottery.
The difference in the finally amount with big jackpots runs into the millions of dollars.
Actually the tax difference feels like a jackpot win.
The recent 1.8 billion Powerball jackpot, the difference for a winner from New York and one from those that don't tax the lottery is a whooping 91 million dollars plus change.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
This is a statistic I do not normally track so it is hard to say if it is a record but it certainly appears to be. Since July 9, 2025 (over 6 months ago), either Powerball or Mega Millions had a jackpot of at least $217 million.
The Powerball jackpot was $217 million on July 9 and it rose to $1.79 billion and was won. Then Mega millions took over with a jackpot of $358 million and it rose to $983 million. Then Powerball took over with a jackpot of $516 million and it rose to $1.8 billion an

$1.5 BILLION: Massive Powerball jackpot fuels rush for tickets
Last night hit cash out button on the Historic Racing Machine for $1903. Slots are illegal in KY, so they 'skirt' the law by using altered slot machines to reflect old horse races. Low bets with a jackpot win of $600 and above are subject to Federal and State taxes and machine shuts off until reset after payout. However if you bet 'high' jackpots aren't taxed. A guy yesterday doing $100 bets won $5200 and $8500 and slot attendant said there was one other too. None of them taxable.

Florida's Fantasy 5
Right... FF5 is the best bet among Fla online games. That's why I play it.
When the lottery added the midday drawing ticket sales immediately went way down. That can be attributed to just one thing - player reaction by voting with their dollars and walking away from the game. Added to that that, these days, people are feeling the effects of higher prices on many things (inflation) and probably have cut back on lottery spending as a result.
IMHO even if inflation is coming down, and pla

Answer Me This...
Except FF5's awarded jackpot's collapsed immediately after the addition of the midday drawing
In that case maybe it's a mystery. When PB went to 3 drawings sales for Wednesday and Saturday went down a bit but the Monday sales more than make up for the loss. I suppose the extra ticket might be a reason some drop out altogether, but I'd think still playing twice a week would be the popular choice.
Something I feel very sure of is that all lotteries care about losing customers, at least to
