Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
KY Floyd, this is interesting. First everyone is telling me that chances aren't the same as odds. Actually, I agree on that to a point, but now you are using the above as an example to prove that the odds are cut in half if you purchase 2 tickets.
Yes, if you have 2 people standing outside during an electrical storm there's a greater chance that someone will get hit than if nobody is outside at all. I mean, if nobody is outside then it won't happen at all. Buying 2 tickets does give you t

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
I'm only saying what KYfloyd and John said but a little differently. The odds are listed as 1 in 175,711,536. If you buy 2 tickets, the odds are 2 in 175,711,536. But the odds are always listed as 1 in something. So what would 2 in 175,711,536 be in terms of 1 in ???. Its the same as 1 in 87,855,768. If someone buys $87,855,768 worth of tickets while making sure they are all different combinations, their odds are 87,855,768 in 175,711,536. But what is that in terms of 1 in ???. Its 1 in

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
Yes, you make sense. But you are proving my point. You can't possibly be cutting the odds in half by buying 2 tickets for MM. Seriously, once I had a discussion about grammar with a boss when I refused to type a letter the wrong way. I faxed it to Harvard (this is a true story) and it was presented to the English Literature department. I got a response, which was very surprising. I was correct. So maybe I'll send a letter to M.I.T.
In this case I am not 100% sure I am correct. However

LOttery all around us: We are all winners..
I am writing this post to let everyone know that we are all special..We all beat the astronomical odds three times, i am talking odds like 1 in several hundred billions or trillions...First i'll like to say that i believe in evolution but with the touch of God..The first astronomical odd that we beat is that there is billions of starts with perhaps planet on them. And it looks like this planet is the only habitable planet in the universe (i know we don't know that, but i am trying to prove a poi

Do you really think you have better odds?
do you think you have better odds of winning the lottery if you use a system, or do you think it's all luck. do you think it's better to pick your own numbers or just get QP's? even if you use a sysyem your odds really don't go down that much.

Odds 101
Your first two paragraphs suggest that you might be really close to getting my point, and I think you'll be there as soon as you consider that the question isn't how much can you profit, but what are the chances of winning? Here are some questions.
1. After thoroughly shuffling a standard deck of cards you draw a single card at random. Nobody placed a bet on the outcome and no money changed hands. Was it still possible to calculate the odds of drawing the ace of spades?
2. It see

PA Millionaire Raffle returning
And with improved overall odds. The previous had overall odds of one in 982, while this one has overall odds of one in 822. But still, for a $20 ticket? Give me a break. I don't care how good the odds are of winning the million.

Odds translation
Anybody know how to translate the odds that they state into realworld numbers? For example, if they say that the odds of winning are 1 in 4.33, well, I find it hard to believe that you just need to buy your scratchoffs in batches of 5... Sorry if this seems a dumb question, but got a bet riding on this... Thanks...

You hit it on the head doc! Isnt this AMerica! Dont we play by the rules here in the Good Ole USA! If you cant pay the odds then change the back of the playslip to reflect the real odds---you know, the real odds that show the odds of winning a pic 4 straight should be 1 in 40,000 vice 1 in 10,000----it works out perfectly that way according to me and my friends----enuf is enuf!!!!
