Match 5 - $20 Million
True. And, can you imagine if it were Mega Millions instead of Powerball? Because the Mega Millions states have a much larger population than the Powerball states, we could easily be talking about a $400 million jackpot.

"Taping" in advance & Conspiracy Theories
I actually know Glen Burns, the guy that draws the Mega Millions here in Atlanta. He is the local weather man for WSB television. He lives in my neighborhood in Roswell, GA and he has said the security for Mega Millions is amazing. I'll get more details when we go fishing together again.

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
Mega Millions set a new 8 roll record for the Oct 18 draw at $90 million. The previous record was $84 million. The 8 roll record for Powerball is $75.8 million.Mega Millions has set an unprecedended number of roll records lately. This streak should continue until the jackpot is won. Conversely, Powerball has not set any new roll records lately despite its new matrix and annuity payout.Good luck,Jake

Would you be happy or sad?
I think I would be happy if mega millions was over $400 million and some one won. I don't play mega millions so if it got higher than that I would not go and get a ticket. The only time it is bad is if I miss out on a prize level because I like to win just like everybody else.

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
ryanm,Yes that is true, but I consider the Mega Millions lottery not the same as the Big Game. Changes were made to the Big Game lottery when it was turned into the Mega Millions lottery.Good luck,Jake

Mega Millions Sets A New Record
Mega Millions set a new 4 roll record for the Oct 4 draw at $42 million. The previous record was $41 million. The 4 roll record for Powerball is also $42 million. The old $41 million record was set in the previous string of Mega Millios rolls. The 4 roll record is the only level where the Mega Millions record matches the Powerball record.Good luck,Jake

Possible winner of $258 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot found
Well, Jorli, afraid that's not true. If I won Mega Millions in New Jersey, I would not pay a dime of it to the state. Only the Feds. We have no tax on lottery prizes in NJ. Same goes for several other states. See the Mega Millions and Powerball Jackpot Analysis pages at USA Mega for a breakdown.

How high will Powerball get this run?
I'm not sure it necessarily has a better chance than Mega Millions, because sales for Mega Millions have been slipping as well, meaning less combinations sold, meaning better chances of a long string of no winners for that game as well. On the other hand, Powerball's lucky streaks historically ended, at least temporarily, every time they upgraded the matrix. I voted for $200+ million as well, since that seems the most realistic.
